Ebay entrepreneurs bring a boom in cottage industries

Around 68,000 people in Britain make at least a quarter of their annual income by selling goods on the website.

Some buy goods cheaply in one country to sell on at a premium. But a significant number are using the site to trade in second-hand books, rare records, homemade toiletries and jewellery...

Competition from Ebay has often been blamed for the demise of traditional bookstores and other businesses.
