New Category of Cyberstalkers: Pissed Off eBayers Stalking Their Trading Partner

The victims of cyberstalking in 2005 are older than they used to be, a stranger to the stalker, predominantly from California and increasingly married.

Those are some of the 2005 findings compiled by Working to Halt Online Abuse, a Dover-based online organization that works to help adult victims of cyberstalking.

"We don’t see cyberstalking going away," although it is a criminal activity in 45 states...

The following are Working to Halt Online Abuse's 2005 cyberstalking statistics:

...Harassers with previous relationships with victims include ex-spouses, down 20 percent; online acquaintances with no romantic ties, up 6 percent; a new category, virtual romances, accounted for 5 percent of the cases; and eBay auction seller or buyer, another new category, 4 percent.

What's the difference between online and offline stalking?  Aren't they both triggered by some event causing a reaction in a psychopathic nut job?
