Based on an independent survey among UK web designers commissioned by Actinic and conducted by pfa Research, the research found a significant increase in the average spend for a designer-built ecommerce solution - from £2,300 in 2004 to £4,600 at present.

In the same period, the proportion of new web sites enabled for online trading rose above 25% for the first time ever. Almost half the web designers interviewed reported growing demand from clients for ecommerce functionality – compared with only one in twenty who thought demand was falling...
