Firefox 1.5 beta release notes: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/...beta1.html
Download the 1.5 beta here: http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/

email client Thunderbird 1.5 release notes and download: http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunderb...beta1.html

( warning: the Firefox 1.5 beta suffers from the same security flaw as the current 1.06 release--details here: http://community.tuliptools.com/index.ph...ml#msg1410)

Quote:Here's what's new in Firefox 1.5 Beta 1:

    * Automated update to streamline product upgrades. Notification of an update is more prominent, and updates to Firefox may now be half a megabyte or smaller. Updating extensions has also improved.
    * Faster browser navigation with improvements to back and forward button performance.
    * Drag and drop reordering for browser tabs.
    * Improvements to popup blocking.
    * Clear Private Data feature provides an easy way to quickly remove personal data through a menu item or keyboard shortcut.
    * Answers.com is added to the search engine list.
    * Improvements to product usability including descriptive error pages, redesigned options menu, RSS discovery, and "Safe Mode" experience.
    * Better accessibility including support for DHTML accessibility and assistive technologies such as the Window-Eyes 5.5 beta screen reader for Microsoft Windows. Screen readers read aloud all available information in applications and documents or show the information on a Braille display, enabling blind and visually impaired users to use equivalent software functionality as their sighted peers.
    * Report a broken Web site wizard to report Web sites that are not working in Firefox.
    * Better support for Mac OS X (10.2 and greater) including profile migration from Safari and Mac Internet Explorer.
    * New support for Web Standards including SVG, CSS 2 and CSS 3, and JavaScript 1.6.
    * Many security enhancements.

    * Spell check as you type.
    * Built in phishing detector to help protect users against email scams.
    * Podcasting and other RSS Improvements.
    * Deleting attachments from messages.
    * Integration with server side spam filtering.
    * Reply and forward actions for message filters.
    * Kerberos Authentication.
    * Auto save as draft for mail composition.
    * Improvements to product usability including redesigned options UI, and SMTP server management.
    * Many security enhancements

Re: Mozilla Releases New Beta Versions of Firefox and Thunderbird
Screw the friggin security hole  :twistedevil:, I downloaded the Firefox beta this morning...so far it seems much faster...although the increase in speed could be because most of the plugins I was using aren't available for the beta yet.  :Smile

Quote:Note: This is not the final release of our Web browser, it has been made available for testing purposes only, with no end-user support. If that sounds scary, you'd probably be better off with the latest version of Firefox
http://www.mozilla.org/projects/firefox/

I haven't decided if I'm going to download that version or just stay with 1.0.6 since this 1.5 beta version still has that same security flaw.

Re: Mozilla Releases New Beta Versions of Firefox and Thunderbird
They'd updated Firefox and 1.0.7 is now available for download.  They say:

"Firefox 1.0.7 is a security and stability release. We strongly recommend that all users upgrade to this latest version.

This version includes several security and stability fixes, including a fix for a reported buffer overflow vulnerability and a fix for a Linux shell command vulnerability."

Release Notes:  http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/...1.0.7.html

Ok sometimes I am sooooooo stupid!

How the heck to you update FF?

I downloaded the latest updates, by clicking on that arrow on the top, but I still have V. 1.07.

If I install it from the link provided above I think I am going to lose all my toolbars.  It happened once before.

1.07 is the latest official release.  If you're upgrading from 1.07 to the beta you have to do a full install.

Re: Firefox 1.5 Beta 2 Released October 7
Your settings and preferences should stay the same if you go to 1.5.  Many 1.07 plugins don't work with 1.5 yet. Backup before the upgrade.
