Change in Amazon.com's Marketplace Fees Display
Quote:Dear Pro Merchant sellers,

Since Marketplace was launched in 2000, we have charged sellers a
fixed fee, which is often referred to as a shipping holdback fee.  The
reason this is called a shipping holdback fee is because sellers
received a lower credit for shipping an item than what the buyer paid.

Sellers have commented that it would be clearer to display this fee as
part of Amazon's commission and at the same time credit sellers the
full amount of shipping that the buyer paid.  We agree.  We will be
making this display change on Wednesday, October 5th.

This change only affects how credits and debits are displayed and will
have no impact on the amount of money that sellers receive for
Marketplace sales.

If you use software or processes that make assumptions about the
shipping credit you are paid, this change may require you to update
your systems.  We are announcing this change in advance to provide
adequate time for you to modify your systems.

Below is an example of how this display change will appear in Sold
Ship Now E-mails (note, other than changes in the amounts displayed,
there are no other changes to the content or layout of the e-mail).

Amazon Commission & Additional Shipping Credit: in today's e-mail, the
Amazon commission includes only the commission on the price of the
item.  The shipping credit is less than what the buyer paid (the
difference is the 'shipping holdback' fee).

[TODAY's E-mail]
----------
Amazon commission:                ($3.00)
Additional shipping credit:        $2.26
----------

In the new e-mail, the Amazon commission includes all fees for the
item and the Additional shipping credit includes the full shipping
amount the buyer paid.

[NEW E-mail]
----------
Amazon commission:                ($4.23)
Additional shipping credit:        $3.49
----------

Your earnings: there is no change to the amount the seller receives
for the sale.

[TODAY's E-mail]
----------
- Your earnings (in your Payments account): $19.26
----------

[NEW E-mail]
----------
- Your earnings (in your Payments account): $19.26
----------

To see a complete version of the Sold Ship Now e-mail and other
Marketplace pages and notifications, you can read the Fee Display
Change announcement on the Seller Success discussion board, accessible
from your Amazon Seller Account.

If you have any questions about these changes, please visit Amazon.com
and click on Help.

Thanks for selling on Amazon.com!
