Quote:A MAN was jailed yesterday after a court heard he was behind an enterprise which saw thousands of pounds worth of stolen property sold on the internet online auction site eBay – some even to police officers.

Most of the stolen loot which passed through Anthony Carver's hands had been taken by criminals from lorries all over the country...

While Carver was the driving force behind the operation arranging for storage of the stolen items in containers at a depot in Leeds and packaging them for onward transmission to the buyers, the front man for the enterprise was his cousin John Watts, who he recruited because of his computer skills to handle the selling on eBay.

It was he who registered on the site using trading names including Santa Claus...

Police were able to prove more than £90,000 of the property sold by Watts had been stolen...
