Your auctions do look great, nice job and good prices. I have to agree with DB, you should set up a store. You will save a lot in listing fees and the item you know have a good chance of selling in a weeks time use to promote your store. I love ecrater, its free and I am getting pretty steady sales. I made up magnets and business cards to tuck in all my ebay shipments to help promote my store plus started an ad word campaign.

NJR, Your items look great. Very nice pictures. I do think you're going to have a tough time with the calendars, though, as not many folks looking for 2007 in March. If I were you, I'd re-categorize the calendars into Teddy Bears or Cats and such, as there will always be buyers looking for cute pictures of animals. I only have a couple suggestions regarding your listings, but please keep in mind this is my own taste. 1) I think you should standardize your Nancy's Crafts and Stuff font (I personally like the one on the Teddy Bear calendar listing), and product layout theme design whenever possible, and use specialty themes sparingly, e.g. for holidays. 2) I think you should consider opening a store, as many of your items are collector items. Collectors don't always browse auctions and the time on auctions may be too short for exposurec to that one collector looking for your unique item. Collectors often go to stores, however, when searching for a particular item. As for myself, I use auctions primarily to drive traffic into my store. It's the store items that pay the bills. As Truth will attest, when you ask for an opinion from me, you'll get it -- straight and honest.
Yes DB this is true  Another point to open an eBay store is your listing count. In my opinion you are within the range of listings that would make it more profitable to have an eBay store then to list only core. Everyone has different opinions but I think a store will cut your costs and allow you the time to drive people to your store with the core you do list. If anything try it because I think it's free for 1 month for a new store seller. let the truth be told u1it4less - "it's all in the name.." |

Testing, 1 - 2 - 3 - Check Check......oh sorry, I'm not a roadie checking a mic......just checking to see if I did it right.
Hi NJ... just to follow up on DB's comments below... She mentioned that your pix were good... I found them to be fuzzy and slightly out of focus... also, that there are no close ups of anything. Pictures sell the item... no description in the world can sell an item like a damn good picture can!!! You have no gallery photos which causes me to have to read each and every one of your listing titles. As a buyer... Generally, I won't take the time to look at those listings... I'll bypass your listings and go to someone with gallery pix. I realize this adds expense to you monthly ebay bill so I suggest opening a store. Rather than paying 70+ cents a listing with gallery photo, you'll pay 6 cents for items up to $24.99. Also, get a free photo host like www.photobucket.com and upload your pix there. You can convert the photo to image code (it's easy, I promise) and then you can put as many pix into your description as you want to and not have to pay extra (besides the gallery photo fee). I agree to keep seasonal items listed before and during that season and also get rid of the calenders, do as DB suggested or just auction them off in several lots. They are a timed item and an inventory loss further into the year. Make what you can on them an move on. Your items are adorable and I wish you the best of luck no matter what you decide to do. Each one of us has to determine our best path and you look like your well on your way. Maybe its time to take it to the next level with a store. Don't want to pay eBay? Open an ecrater store or blujay store and run your items simultaneously to find where your specific market is. Sell your craft items on Etsy.com for only 20 cents a listing!! I have a store on eBay, Etsy, Blujay and eCrater... see my siggy below to visit and see what each venue looks like. It's a lot of work... BUT... You've got the inventory.... go for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good luck!!!!! |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I agree with Platz on the gallery pix. A MUST! I didn't realize you had no gallery pix.
Every one of my items gets a gallery pic, without exception. And, as Platz said, close-ups are good. I don't always use them unless there is a particular aspect of the item that demands I take a close-up. I thought the pix were good, but then my camera is incapable of producing better pix, so you might be limited by the equipment you have (as am I). As for hosting, I use Auctiva -- also free, and you can stick in as many pictures in as you want. Also free templates and free scheduling, which is one feature I take advantage of regularly, since I'm now on the east coast. Auctiva also keeps my listings, so I don't have to plug up my computer backing up my listings. Etsy and Ecrater are good, too, but if I were you, I'd try to get my feet wet with an eBay store first. Etsy is kinda fussy about what types of items are allowed for the site, so I suggest you contacting CC over there before going any further with Etsy. |

Well now I have had a light bulb moment with the help from Truth & Brat - thank you, thank you, thank you so much - I'll tell ya when sherrand hooked me up with you guys here, that was the best thing she could have ever done.
I feel the same way as you. Sherrand is like a recruiting officer. I found TT because of her as well. It's a small world. It was a fluke when you think about it because if she didn't close her store on WP the way she did (went out with a bang) I might not have found TT. Until TT I never posted like I post now in a forum before, not ebay, nowhere, only posts I ever did was in the WP forums and well they were deleted anyway. Sorry guy's I just had to share that. I love TT and the TT posters. TT has helped expand my business and for that I am forever grateful. let the truth be told u1it4less - "it's all in the name.." |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
DB - Truth - & Brat .......all thank you so much. I've got some thinking to do and some work cut out for me. For right now, I think I'm gonna stick to an EB store. Been thinking about that for a little while now. In fact, Terry from Wakemeup was urging me to do so. I have a lot more listings to put up right now and in the future. Household stuff, good used kids clothes, kids clothes w/tags still, stuff around here to get rid of, stuff I inherited from when my younger brother passed away because I was his caretaker.....don't have the same widgets day in and day out. Hence, my old store name, Nancy's Crafts and Stuff.
I've been reading here for a while since sherrand sent me here and I didn't say much until just recently, but I have to say......you guys are da bomb! Wish I knew more about da poop in particular before I wasted my time there, but I met some good people and I moved forward - that's all that matters. I wouldn't have gotten to know you guys either! Brat - I've been also thinking about an etsy store for my cross stitch that I have finished, framed, and unframed. I sold a TON of it already and still have some left, just not sure if I have that much left to open a whole store or not there. Been thinking about ecrater too. Truth - regarding my listing count.......yea, I have tons more that have ended and I haven't relisted yet, and tons more to take pics of and list. MY HOUSE & GARAGE ARE AUCTION RUN OVER!!! Now that's a pic in itself, let me tell ya! It's gotten to the point, where the kids will say hey mom want this for ebay? Or can I clean my room for ebay? And as for the costs, yea, I need to cut for sure, these fees are killing me whereas a store, I know helps. DB - the calendars......I've had them for a little bit and believe it or not, I've sold quite a few. I was thinking of dropping my prices a little to get them moving faster. Re-categorizing is good, good idea there. Idea there please? Like what category for cats? Or the animals? A picture category? Or just a general category under cats, dogs, bears? As for my font......those are templates personally made for me. That teddy bear one was actually a valentine's day template, I just liked it and used it for that. Now here's where I'm particularly challenged......."a product layout theme design" and "a specialty theme" . By sparingly, you mean only use for example, my Christmas template at christmas time? What I was thinking there was.....it was a Christmas item so that's why I used the Christmas template. Not a good idea? I have seen this before...."use auctions primarily to drive traffic into my store". I totally don't understand this statement, have seen it lots of times. When you have a store, you can make the listing either buy it now or bid auctions? Know anything about turbo lister and listing for a store? Does that work for stocking a store (listings)? DANG......I have tons of questions...... DB - as for giving me your opinions, staight and honest........I welcome them, I welcome them from anyone and everyone that would help. Why not? How else do ya learn? Thank you to all of you guys for your input and help - I truly value and appreciate it. This forum like I said before has been valuable to me and as you see now, even more valuable than ever. I will most likely be bending your ears / eyes some more, just keep patience with this store "newbie"! LOL |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
njr55 ,
No problem at all An ebay store would probably be the best way to start. Its been over a year since I had mine but from what I remember you just use BIN for store listings, I think you can use the best offer option too, if you want to be negotiable. I think turbo lister is a must when listing that many items. Then your items are backed up so if you loose your listings for any reason on ebay you still have them on TL. It also helped when I was experimenting at other places, just cut and paste everything. Your auctions will be shown in your store but you will have to pay the regular fee unless that has changed since I had mine. I gotta go get ready to see my wonderful chiropractor...all this computer work has messed up my neck and shoulders. He is a godsend! Have a great day everyone, I will try to check back in later if I have a chance. |
