Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:The $109.99 sale was my only Wagglepop sale this week. The prior week was around $230. in sales. I think that the 2 weeks prior to that were over $300. each. I'm saying this to brag, or even to imply that those numbers are good, only to clarify this for the individuals who saw fit to criticize my prior post. See bolding above. Yes you are Instead of posting your sales totals how about disclosure of your PROFIT. That is a completely different number. Take out your FVF, store fees, paypal or merchant account fees, labor (which includes photographing, listing, item description, packaging, and shipping. Gas to the PO, shipping supplies, storage, even if it is in your house as long as it sits it isn't generating revenue. Now take out your cost for the item, including the cost to have it shipped to you, any taxes you may have incurred, and even when you reach the bottom line left you still need to replace the inventory you just sold. Post your actual in your pocket I can spend this money any way I want too profits. Total "sales" does not mean total "profit". :twistedevil: |

Greedy SOB that he is... |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Good Morning Everyone, and Happy Easter to you !
Just wanted to give you a heads up about something. I did a post in the "Are You The Top Seller In Your Stores Categories? " thread. It's not that I really care, but wanted to show the "Poppers that be" how many categories that I cover. I came up with over 20 that I am #1, in just a few minutes of looking. Do you think they'll miss me when I'm gone? My project in the next few weeks will be setting up my website with a cart. I think I have decided on the CRELoaded cart, so if anyone has any tips or tricks, please let me know. Also, I have seen here several times about making sure that listings are backed up. Is there a way to do all 900+ of them at one time? I do have most of them on TL, so it's not a huge deal either way. Thanks again for all of the great info on this thread !! Peace. |
If you have them in TL, that's probably all you'll need. I think the biggest thing would be losing your descriptions and having to rewrite them all. With TL, you won't run into that problem. As an aside, just realized who you are. Perhaps I missed it when you first started posting here, but, not long ago you were an avid WP supporter. What was the last straw for you in terms of you deciding to leave WP? Just my own curiosity - you can tell my to mind my own business, lol.

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:Total "sales" does not mean total "profit". Exactly. And even if there were no other factors in the mix, who on this thread could live on less than $1000/month? Not even YOU, Ms. WP Braggadocios Seller. We know who you are, and we know that's why you have stores on several OTHER venues, including the one you claim to despise. On the other hand, HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS of sellers rely on eBay and other venues, including their own sites, EXCLUSIVELY as a means of support. The point I, and everybody else here has been trying to make all along, is that WP IS NOT A PLACE FOR A BUSINESS-MINDED, CAREER E-TAILER. If you feel all fuzzy and important by being part of an evangelical, crusading clique (I won't use the other "C" word you find so objectionable), then great. But warm fuzzies, dancing bunnies and dopey prayer threads have never paid my mortgage, or anybody else's on this planet, and until they do, I would NEVER recommend WP to anybody who needs to make a living. Numbers don't lie (objective ones). Nearly 3/4 of WP's membership has blown the Koolaid stand -- and don't tell me they were all deadbeats -- THAT'S A FLAT-OUT LIE! WP's Alexa stats don't even make a blip on the radar -- (River's blog gets more traffic than WP). And 90% of the respondents on WP's "survey" thread have reported few (less than 25) sales for all of 2007. (Since the thread was started 2 weeks ago, the stores have dropped by 10%). Add to that, there is NO advertising (a one-day Wagglepop AdWords campaign doesn't count). Site issues go unaddressed. The Grand Opening was a total disaster. And what does KaRay say? It's an "industry-wide" issue. That's To the seller who has listed items for months and FINALLY got a sale: perfect! You're just what Ray wants: someone who sells on-line as a hobby, so couldn't care less about making money, but who'll pay that store fee like a good little girl every month. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Hi Eclectica, It was many things, really. Dating back to the lack of a Christmas rush. I worked my butt off to get things listed, and I think I did like $400 in December. Since then, I really haven't added much inventory, and what I do add also gets listed on E. I'm finally frustrated/motivated enough to undertake putting a cart on my site. BTW, my website, with NO advertising or me sending feeds, gets picked up on searches. The traffic to my site and my WP store is nearly identical. Neither is great, but I'm sure once the inventory is on my site, the hits will go way up.
Next week is the beginning of a new era, as I start the transformation to my own online store. Scary, yes, but I know it's the right thing to do. Just be warned, I'll probably be asking alot of cart related questions! Off to Easter lunch now...... |
I think the lack of Christmas sales was a definite eye-opener for many. I left back in October when it became very clear that the only one viewing my auctions was me. Unless, of course, I posted on the boards. I simply didn't have time to do a rah-rah dance every day for a few pitiful hits and no sales when the same items (priced higher) sell consistently on eBay. I wish you much luck & success with your new site! It is a lot of work but the benefits make it worth it. At least all of your blood, sweat and tears is rewarded by money in your pocket instead of someone like KaRay. As far as questions - ask away! We're all learning together and this group really is great with the help. There is a thread on TT dedicated to questions like that, its called Sellers 101 or something like that. Happy Easter to those whose celebrate! I'm off to my own dinner - time to stuff myself and drink lots of wine, lol!
