Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I called the vet. The office is open but no appts. I described his symptoms to the Technician and she told me to try buffered aspirin so I ran to the store. In the interm, the school nurse called. My 13 y/o son is suffering from a migraine. I just got back to from picking him up so now I have a sick kid home too... He'll be sick until he throws up from the headache. He feels like he has a temp too.
I called and left a message for a mobile vet that was referred by my vet. I'm waiting for a call back. I gotta breathe... I'll be back. |

Dusty has been sick or sub-par health wise since he was two. He had a tumor on his head when he was two that was malignant and we spent thousands on surgery. He has also had thyroid problems and is on thyroid meds even now. He still had is good and bads days tho. His new thyroid meds that he started taking last year, put a new pep in his step and I have to say, he never looked, felt or acted better. Now that he is sick again, I wonder what to do. Bill and I just redecorated our house, we never saw this coming... we're low on funds now... our experience is the expense of the meds, surgery, etc... I have to ask myself... when is it enough? And, who am I doing it for... us or him? Does that sound heartless? I don't mean it too... these are the things that are rattling around in my brain today. He had a fabulous year up to now... he was like a different dog... Damn it... why isn't that vet calling? If I could just get some prices from him, maybe we can start figuring out what the hell we can and can't do!!!! |

Quote:And, who am I doing it for... us or him? That's the complete opposite of sounding heartless. The fact you question it shows how much you really care about Dusty.
Never argue with an idiot they drag you down to their level then beat you with experience.

You are being compassionate and trying to decide what the best course of action is. Having just gone through putting our Golden down, that was the exact question I asked myself - Who am I doing this for? In my case, the answer was clear and I knew Nala was better served by letting her go with dignity. And yup, just like a Golden, that dog wagged her tail right up until she couldn't. Don't panic yet. There might be something basic that can be done to alleviate Dusty's pain. Take some deep breaths, it will be ok no matter what. And we're here for you!

I'm glad the vet called you back. I don't think you sound heartless you have to consider the finacial part of it I know how exspensive vet bills can be. Within less than 2 weeks my vet bill ran up to about $1000 trying to save my dog. She had lyme which was causing infections. They said they could try surgery but the outlook was grim. We had to decide at that point to continue or not. I hope you don't need to make this decision and that your dog gets better soon. |
