I am constantly amazed by all of the people who use "cannot afford" as an excuse to close a store. C'mon people, it's 10 bucks a month. If you can't afford that, maybe you shouldn't be in the online sales arena. Even if you just put 50-100 items in there, and let it ride, what are you really losing? Pack a lunch for 2 days instead of eating out, and there's your fees for the month.
I went right for the high dollar store, not really expecting it to pay for itself anytime soon. It's great exposure for a relatively cheap advertising venue. It will help me in the long run, and maybe, just maybe, it will help the site in general become a viable alternative to everything else out there.
Strength is in numbers, always has been, and always will be. I'd rather be a part of something from the beginning, helping to build it, than to be a rider of coat-tails. I'm not trying to be a rah-rah cheerleader here, but $120 (minimum store fees) a year for the opportunity to be a part of "The Revolution" is a great investment. My E-store was never that cheap, and they never gave free self-renewing listings.
I know that I'll probably get flamed for some of this, but some things just need to be said. Sorry if it offends anyone.
Good Luck to all of the sellers that are brave enough, and strong enough, to stick with it. In the long run, I'm sure it will be worth it ! To the others, good luck with your free venues. Once the market gets flooded, I hope you have a back-up plan.

Thats great your trying to build a big online business and feel 'cannot afford' is an excuse and it's great you can afford to to eat meals out at will. I wish you the best. However, I'm not trying to build an empire with my online sales, I'm just a single mom who lives penny to penny and work my butt off online to make a few extra bucks so we can eat at all. The 'other' place soaks me more on fees, but at least there's a profit at the end of the day, and yes, I'm shameless enough to say $10 is a big deal to me.

The majority of sellers aren't people out to be the next walmart, they're just average people trying to make a few extra bucks to get by hard times.

I am sorry... I was wrong and the more I think about it.
It is healthy for you to talk about this smuck RR and I do see why you are.

Your right... how are others supposed to know what this jerk is up to if you don't spread the word.

Hat's off to you all and I've done IT and still do the same thing about PP and eBay.
So again please forgive my rants and carry on.

I'll just get me some popcorn and watch and maybe comment when I feel it's appropriate.

Comments like this infuriate me. Before I was terminated at WP, a comment almost identical to this one was posted (possibly the same poster), and another seller responded with the comment (paraphrasing). "So, if $10 means nothing to you, then why don't you just take $10 out of your wallet every month and light it on fire or flush it down the toilet? It doesn't matter how much it is, if you're getting nothing for your money, it's a worthless expense." I think I chimed in with similar sentiments and added something to the effect of "I don't understand why sellers here don't treat their business like a business. What kind of business sense justifies paying for anything that can be procured somewhere else without charge. Could someone please answer me that!" As I recall, my post was pulled.

As stated on my list of "Characteristics of a Cult"
2) make the converts feel they are working toward a “common good”
6) impress upon the faithful to be selfless, that they are part of something greater than themselves and sacrifice is worth it
13) have a common enemy (ebay)
15) proclaim that the devout must rise above daily travails -- have faith and all will be well
16) never let followers believe they have power as individuals – it is only through their collective efforts can the goals of the leaders be achieved

When you are kiced off a forum and deleted and treated like a child..

Not every discussion is going to be of interest to everyone.  The simple solution is to not read it. 

With eBay, for example, how many more ways can it be said that they suck and are unethical?  BUT I remember when I first realized it.  Everyone has to go through it in their own time.

Just saying a company sucks isn't enough.  It has to be backed up with examples.  IMHO

greglat123 I just looked at the Alexa ratings and according to these charts WP has less than 10 page views per million people on the web.  Then you have to consider that each seller is counted once......

Lets see how long this posting stays on the WP boards.....
