Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens

While not generally a tracked parameter, I can share by personal experience in the course of my responsibilites that the sales to buyers without either a Store or active inventory has consistently been in approximately the 65-75% range, though it's been as high as 85-95% in the last few weeks.

There's been a general misconception about the major sources of sales, as the vast majority do come from outside sources (defined here as "non-selling members) such as direct link or search engine/shopping comparison site referrals.

Horse puckey. Unless you can access the closed listings on WP, there is no way to verify any of these numbers, or the sales report for accuracy. You have to take Ray's word for it. NOT!  :blinkie:

Ya know.... being an old Bay-person (4 year member and powerseller), it is a bit amusing to see all this concern with "outside" sales. I don't have any firm numbers, but it seems a goodly percentage of my sales on the big E have been/continue to be to others who sell. Maybe just a wee-tiny seller, or sometimes to bigger sellers than we are. But buyers who have never sold... like what's so special about that?

But the real scary sales, the ones that make me hold my breath, say a Hail Mary and sweat out the details, are to the newbies... the folks with no experience selling and hardly any buying. The sales I don't sweat and look forward to are to other experienced sellers. Those are the folks who understand about postal delays, postal holidays, and the high cost of packing supplies. They are the ones who really appreciate a well-packed item, good but not overly annoying communications, and don't jump the gun on negative feedback.

Besides, no one can buy on WPOP without registering as a member, so what's the diff? A member's a member. I know that WPOP wants lots of new members, and their dream would be if every member decided to sell a bit as well -- then they get us coming and going, right?

Wow I am really surprised at your response.

As a new buyer a couple of years ago on E I guess you would have been pretty scared of me because I wasn't familiar with how auctions and online buying work.

Everyone started as a first time buyer at some point and that is how ecommerce grows.

I sold on E last year and most of my customers had feedback under 100, some brand spanking new and I only had one bad experience and that was from a umph...Power Seller, yikes.....

I think everyone should give ray romeo their password to their bank account for verification, like with paypal.  He's SURELY more trustworthy than paypal....

I welcome sales from sellers & non-sellers alike! (and have had both!)
Never gave it a second thought at othEr places.

I really do not understand why so many people seem to find it a problem that sellers are buying from other sellers.....in my opinion it shows the trust and confidence we have in each other.
I would be more concerned if we were NOT buying from each other!

I don't care either where my sales come from. I know when I was on E some of my sales there where to other sellers too. Just because we are sellers does not mean we are not consumers.

I've also been shopping here I purchased some items for myself and some as gifts. My holiday shopping is not done so I'm sure I'll be making more purchases. I know we would all like to see more new members and outside traffic. But I don't think we should discount the ones who are here.

When I make a sale I consider the buyer a customer whether they be another seller or not.

If you read my initial post I do not condemn sellers buying from each other. I was just trying to make a suggestion to test the site traffic from outside sources and to give sellers on E a better idea of how viable Wagglepop is.

There is no reason to put up defenses or to justify your selling and buying habits.

I would think that overall everyone here would be thrilled to find out how well their advertising efforts have paid off, not just for their own stores but for the site as a whole.

I guess I was wrong...

The OP's mistake was in thinking that they would want to know. They don't want to face the fact that without each other they would have absolutely nothing. In the deepest part of their minds they may know it so, of course, they will resist having to face it. Ray has them convinced that they need him and his pitiful little site.

I'm changing my date of when Wagglepoop closes from Dec 18th, to Jan.28th. That's my birthday, I'll do an extra shot of...what's a fitting shot to drink in celebration of it's closing? And no, I won't be doing shots JUST because it's closing, I'll be doing shots because I do NOT want to remember how old I will be that night.
