Disillutioned WP seller:

"I really hope things turn around soon. I feel like I am buried under the deepest ethere store here. Few lookers and even fewer buyers. I have to 4 people in 3 months here. I stayed with the hopes that the waggle lister would be worth while. It will not work on my puter and I am not willing to buy a program at 119 to list items that are not selling anyway. My only comfort is that there are few sells on the other sites and not just this one. I dont know what to think. I hate taking days to list things that are not selling.Someone said it they could not affort to list and not sell. Well more than the 10 dollars down each month... is the time and engery in listing the items and having nobody see them... I have not googled my items lately.... I might see if they are coming up. I have been tring to get an answer for about a week and a half and customer care is skirting the question if not out right avoiding it. I might take some items somewhere else to see what happens. I really hate bouncing around where nobody knows you. I saw something that I would of bought tonight if I had money in my account to pay for it. I need to keep money in there to pay my fees."

Translation: I'm getting totally frustrated with busting my butt and getting no results. Furthermore, CC doesn't seem to care.

Mommy Karen's condescending reply:

"Online selling in 2006 means finding a way to "stand out" from your competition, because there's more now than ever before.

More than ever, solid selling strategies and high customer service standards are needed, along with effective SEO methods targeted to your precise market demographic.

Offer quality items and products that are in demand, fairly priced, and deliver them with an eye on customer satisfaction and retention for the future Smile

Karen - WP Customer Care"

Translation: If nothing's happending for you, don't blame us, blame yourself for being a lously seller doing everything wrong..

[/quote] Smileyviolin I swear, I think Ray could literally say, "I'm taking your money and you're not getting sh!t in return." instead of dancing around, and those sellers would hang on and hope.  Smileyviolin

Yeah, they did. Angryfire

What I do not understand is why anyone would want to tolerate that kind of attitude from people whom they are paying for their product/services?  :blinkie:

I know I wouldn't.Even if I were making big $. Tongue1
The nastiness and lack of helpfulness just would not be worth it.

Seriously.

I mean, in some cases people DO fail because they didn't choose the right products, or do the right type of marketing--but can anyone imagine their hosting company or brick and mortar landlord actually telling them that? Talk about unprofessional.

Imagine if monster commerce tells me in 6 months that it's all my fault I don't make money, but could I please renew my monthly service?

Exactly! Only in the case of WP, it's more likely to be due to reputation and/or lack of promotion. :blinkie:

Just googled " Wagglepop". This came up No. 3 in the search results.

Quote:Wagglepop CEO Sticks Fork in Site: It's Done
Call it frustration, irrational behavior or a smart business move. Either way, the much-hyped eBay competitor Wagglepop has shut its doors just a week after opening, ending a bizarre online soap opera. After the Wagglepop's unofficial debut last week, discontent appeared to grow rapidly as users complained of poor site performance, security lapses and numerous bugs. Many claim the bugs were never fixed and should have been worked out before the site was publicly launched. Still others claimed there were "other" forces at work determined to see the site fail.

This is old news, still at the top of search results. Why would anyone looking to sell on WP see this and not say NO?? :blinkie:

RE: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Karen and Scott Booger both said the same thing to me when I had a store on WP -- their explanation for my inactivity must be because I'm selling "junk" (Scott's word) or was not working hard enough. Suddenly, I found myself in the position of trying to defend why brand new $200 Ferragamo shoes I sell for $29.99 are NOT junk and that I thought working from 6 a.m. to midnight every day was plenty enough - thank you. By that time I was already having very serious reservations and that snide remark by CC and Scott confirmed them even more.  Angryfire I asked why the same Cynthia Steffe Edwardian blouse that is a very good seller on eBay, didn't even get hits for almost half the price on WP. Scott's response, "As far as your sheer Edwardian blouse, I hav eno idea why you haven't gotten more than 3 hits on it. Probably due to a lack of people looking for a sheer Edwardian blouse." What an assinine comment from someone with basically NO on-line sales experience to tell to someone (me) who's been selling on-line since 1998 and has engaged in about 6,000 transactions.

In Ray/Karen's minds, because they do nothing, they take responsibility for nothing negative and all the credit should anything come of their enterprise. If WP goes down in flames, it won't be their faults, it'll be those stupid, lazy sellers, trying to peddle garbage at over-inflated prices, while sitting on their butts watching cartoons and eating bon-bons.

Too true. History has shown that Ray Romeo does not believe in personal responsiblity for himself or his ventures.

Good post, Askling. Smile

Correct.

Alskling--that is seriously crappy. I'm glad you got out and that you're taking the time to share your experiences with others.

Last time it was the naysayer's fault(s). ToyRanch, Ross, BBH, and many of the posters here at TT (then at FAS); anyone who dared ask a question, anyone who dared show any real results and numbers, anyone who knew the history of small-time, ego-driven auction sites.

The list of "doubters" is a long one. I'm sure many other posters can add lots of names to the list.

In the end it was "our" fault. We supposedly hijacked the site, ruined its chances for success, etc. I'm sure the TT posters will get partial blame, at least, if they go down in flames again.

Of course, Ray is the one who was sitting in the Captain's seat and pressed the controls straight down.
