Ebay taught Ray well. But Ray and waggleflop will never come close to being the cult leader and cult that Pierre and Ebay are.  Tard

Alskling post on WP
Quote:At last count, WP has managed to amass nearly 1000 stores. That's $10,000/mo guaranteed income just in store fees alone. Would someone please like to tell me what it's doing with that money?

SB reply
Quote:Are you serious? A whole $10,000 a month! Wow!

They probably have a big electricity bill, phone bill, need to pay for the equipment, office rental, salaries, lawyers, accountants, tech people....and maybe there's enough left over for a cup of coffee, but I doubt it.

Kumbaya...

Would some of the TT folks like to break it down into real world numbers what Ray's estimated monthly costs would be to run WP, including an opinion of just exactly how many people it would take to run WP daily? Ray has given the impression he has a full staff, programmers etc... It appears SB is one of the people who believes this based on his post.

"Appears" being the operative word.  ;D

Mr. Kumbaya is a plant. He may fool the poopers but he isn't fooling me. I'm guessing that he is Ray's dippy brother also of waggle 1 fame.  Snorting

one person working part time could easily run the site.

WP hasn't mentioned its Alexa ranking recently. The site's daily rankings peaked in mid-October and have dropped steadily since.  Go here, type in wagglepop.com and select one of the 3 data types to see the traffic charts. The traffic charts for reach, rank, and page views show a sharp drop over the past 2 weeks -a time period in which WP reported a 16% decline in items sold.

Correction: According to Karen, this is not a 16% decline in sales. It is a "leveling off."

Am I the only one here who does not think that these sales figures are accurate? I find it difficult to believe that WP took in even those small amounts considering that their two largest sellers show 5 dollars and 50 cents combined revenues in 3 months for the 2nd & 3rd largest WP stores. $5.50!!!

Are Ray/Karen cooking the books? :twistedevil:

Yes, Belle, I have ALWAYS doubted the figures. After all, where's the proof? There are no completed auctions to cooborrate, seller's FB scores rarely change, and if you go on the boards you will find sellers lamenting having no sales. Sales are, in fact, so rare, that every time a seller gets one, he/she comes on the boards to broadcast the good news and it's a major cause for celebration among the poppers, complete with cake and balloons. For all I know (or anybody else for that matter), Ray/Karen could be plugging in traffic figure numbers and calling them sales, or just making up something. But, even if one were to give them the benefit of the doubt, and these ARE real figures, considering the number of listings, it is still piss-poor. At 160,000 listings, to have 1500 sales means that the chances of any item selling at any given week is less than 1%. Which means an item (such as a $5 sportscard) would have to sit in a store for about 2 years before having a chance at selling, after which a seller would have dumped $240 into Ray/Karen's pocket in store fees. I brought this out on the WP board when I had a store there, and was beratted by Karen for "major eBay think" (her words).

On another note, does anybody find the conspicuous absence of S.B. a bit of a hoot? After coming on the board here all kissy-faced, hoping to impress TT boardies with his squeaky Kumbaya image and challenged me to substantiate his accusations and behavior toward me on WP, he curiously disappeared after Sweet Girl actually took the time, energy and initiative to dig up the actual WP posts wherein those accusations were made and post them here. And did he not say here, that if he did, in fact, insinuate I was a liar and a cheat that he would sincerely apologize? Well, S.B., we're all still waiting.
