and continuing alskling's recent karen post
Quote:Your information about the sourcing of the third-party provider for AdSmart is incorrect. Though there is a company that provides a similar program with a similar name, that is not our vendor for Wagglepop AdSmart.

The similarity is just a superficial naming similarity.

snugglypuppy,

Your assertion about my identity not being my stated identity is inappropriate, and I would ask that you refer to the Board Participation Policy at this time.

The funny thing about this statement is that Ray doesn't deny it, he only states it is inappropriate.

From a popper to me:
I do believe however that there are thousands of people who can afford the $9.95/month and do have the time to set up a store who are just watching and waiting to see what happens instead of taking action (sooooooo many more people could be making sales and making money while helping to build Wagglepop into a real powerhouse and true alternative to eBay).

Thousands of people watching and waiting to see what happens??? I think that number is way too high. Someone is drinking way too much KoolAid (or something else)  Laughing7  Sign10

I think the number is too high, and so is the person who said it. :blinkie:

A post in defense of race and another poster on WP

Quote:am behind each of you 100%. You both have the right to ask your honest, politely worded queries as concerned sellers and you both deserved responses that are not laced with pep-rally double-talk. I too have had the same thoughts racing through my mind with the announcement of this latest enhancement that smacks of squeezing the sponge for a few more drops of water. And we sellers are the money generating sponges - absorbing further costs for what appears to be a more sophisticated way to continue to buy from each other? Will this enhancement increase OUTSIDE traffic, bring fresh buyers, draw them to WP so they can even see your ad? This is just a cheap program software add-on that came in a box. Anyone, everyone: I encourage you to Goggle AdSmart as I did to confirm this.

This isn't the first bubble burst to smack me in the face through the boards compliments of CS. The repetitive pats on the head, slaps on the back and carrot dangling tactics from CS "Karen" are becoming quite repetitive. Yep I'm changing my tune - I'm beginning to suspect the past one was off-key.

I like the sponge analogy.  :turkey1:

SNUGGLY!! Another ex-Popper here and you were my first (and second, lol) customer there. I really did appreciate it! I saw your post and finally quit being lazy and registered here so I could reply  Smile

I've been reading for quite awhile now and this thread and particularly Alsking's (sp?) well-thought out and intelligent insights had a lot of bearing on my decision to close my stores at WP. I got sucked in initially as well with all the hype, but it wasn't long before I realized something was really wrong there. I got really sick of hearing "there are no sales anywhere", "be patient", blah blah. Well.... I realize some people hate eBay but I've done well there. People there kept saying stuff like - well, you didn't make money on eBay. Uh, yeah I did. $1500.00 my very first month and now Silver PS. Not saying that to brag, but I swear most of those people must have never really been sellers anywhere else. And the 'business is not always about making money' mentality? Uh yeah, it is. I am NOT donating 12 hours of my day to feel good and get all warm and fuzzy. Now, granted, I love my job (online sales is my fulltime gig), and I would work 23 hours a day if I had to... but NOT for smilies and pats on the back, lol!!!!

I guess the thing that really bothers me the most is that there ARE new sellers that are very inexperienced over there and being seriously deluded. Some very nice people but they don't seem to have any real business sense. Those that do are leaving in droves. I really feel bad for the ones that I'm honestly not sure know any better.

UGH!! Anyway, thank you ALL so much for your informative posts and providing a forum where people can speak the truth and speak their minds. Its refreshing.

Why Adsense makes No Sense. There are about 700 stores on WP. About 350 have 50 items or more about 350 have more than 50 items.
You are very likely to be the only one selling in your catagory, if there are more than store selling the same item it comes up. If it's books or sports cards then you ~might~ invest the $10.00.
Unlike eBay where there are thousands in your market. Why would you click on an ad when you are already there?
So the extra exposure is nil.
