Ray, like Jason Bidzig, supposedly deleted all information when he closed.  My comments (OK lunatic rant  ) about BidZig lieing about the deletion of personal information obviously apply here too.

Not gooooood.  Maybe he copied all the e-mail addys and THEN deleted everything.  Big Grin

I don't plan on listing anything there.  I just wanted to check it out.  It is a litttttttttttle tooooooo creepy for me that it looks like a clone to eBay.

Wagglepop was pretty much before my time.  I was a gnuebie seller the first time around.

But, as BBH mentioned, I'd have a HARD TIME paying to list an item when I can list it elsewhere, on an established site, for FREE or cheap (the O just gave me a free month's subscription!).

(And that's not even taking into account the time factor involved. )

Did WagglePop charge a listing fee before?
I could be wrong, but I don't see people willing to pay to list on a new site.  FVF maybe, but not listing fees.

I guess I've been snubbed.  NO EMAIL !!  I even listed items over there!  >Sad
Big Grin

I see several problems:  A. The home page tables are a bit wonky in FireFox. B. He's calling the instant purchase BuyItNow, copying ebay directly (shouldn't that be a no-no?) C. The three images on the bottom left tables on the home page are all women. Where're the guys?

On the up side, he got rid of the boring red/gray colors and the home page looks decent to me. I didn't completely read thru all his 'revolutionary' programs, but looks as if he's attempting to do some different things.

The guy has chutzpah, I can say that.  After the embarassing beating he took last year, I guess he decided to try to redeem himself.  Can't really blame him.  However, it's rather tough getting past the big LIE about WP having been developed and worked on for THREEE YEARS -- and then he goes and gets a box auction script.  Very difficult to trust anything associated with someone who deceives like that.

*sigh*  I'm afeared everyone is going to sit back and watch and wait.  No one is going to want to be the *first* to list and looked at AGAIN as being a fool....  No one is going to trust anything he says...

Edited:  Yes.  WP charged a nickel last time, but for all listers, no one ever got invoiced.

Might be a good source for some SEO back to the ole website too.
If Ray plans on or is running feeds to the major search engines.

But if there is a listing fee. I'll not play.  :Smile

Okay, I just registered.  His TOS is "buyer beware" and "WP is just a venue and will not get involved in disputes".  Also, no CC for verification for registering!

The 5-cent listing fee does not bother me.  The complete disregard for account verification bothers me.  His complete disregard (making no effort whatsoever) for keeping his site a 'safe' place to buy/sell bothers me -- as it did last year.  Buyer beware doesn't cut it on the web.  His site will be nothing but knock-offs/reproductions.

Quote:His TOS is "buyer beware"

The 2 pure play (i.e. only auctions)  US non- ebay auction sites that are successful (i.e. they both have profits in the millions) are uBid and Bidz, and one of the primary reasons both are successful is that they both have extreeeeemely stringent verification of sellers....the other reason uBid and Bidz are successful is because they're not trying to imitate the eBay general auction model...

Quote:we have been arround ong before wagglepop and have seen DOZENS of sites come and go. we are ALWAYS glad to see possible competion for ebay. we always notice the jealous people (like yourself) that hope for all of these alternative sites to fail. yes, we are totally aware of the circumstances with the failing of Ray's site last year. this world has MANY success stories that started out with "failure" or rocky times. of course ebay NEVER has had rocky times and has ALWAYS satisfied it's users 100%. right? it is perfectly acceptable to object to ANYTHING vocally... but to make EVERY SINGLE POST, DOZENS OF THEM, a Personal ATTACK on the persons CHARACTER/HONESTY, makes ones OWN character, VERY MUCH IN QUESTION. i fully realize that you will most likely turn you VENOMOUS attacks in our direction... such is the practice of VERMIN.

OMG!!  Who is this apache person on the stores boards WP threads?  Must be part of Ray's team sent in to squelch the negativity...  Puke
