A while back I posted in a thread at Pop Land that I had only purchased one item. I explained that the reason I had only bought one item was because I either couldn't find what I was looking for, or that I could buy it cheaper somewhere else. The responses that I got floored me. I was told by one seller that the best way to find what I wanted was to start a thread and to list what I was looking for. That way other sellers could search their inventory and list what I was looking for. I was also told that maybe I would be better off buying the things I wanted from my local store since it was apparent that I was looking for new items and it would be cheaper in stores.

I didn't go into detail what I was looking for, whether it was new or not, whether it was clothing, toys, games, etc.

I also didn't realize that the best way to find something at an online selling site was to list what I wanted, then wait to see if a seller had the item in their inventory.

Same here. Everything I buy or collect isn't offered at WP. I couldn't buy there if I wanted to.

I'm finding it really weird. Shivery but great. From the store logo page that WakeMeUp provided for so many of us, the stores once upon a time on it are closing or being expelled and showing up here. Ladyrock you were once there. Currently there are 6 stores (including me) that are gone with the wind off the present page.

Speaking of WakeMeUp, I've been in contact with her. She down-graded from a feature store and has re-opened on eBay (boo!!) and for now will keep low visibility on WP. I've been working on her, gently I hope, to cut lose from WP altogether. As a serious business woman, she was some pissed off when Black Pearl cropped up offering free logos to anyone and everybody. I don't image Miranda (another previous lurker) felt any better about it.  This ate into Wake's business niche and she has noticed a drop in business but WP only saw this gesture from Black Pearl as propping up the Collective, offering something for free that they couldn't, wouldn't do - not ever giving consideration to the impact that this generous gesture would make, that it would eat into the business of established sellers offering this same service.  Can anyone spell FLAWED STRATEGY!!

Thanks to all of you here. If you hadn't kept on me I never would have started to really see and read all that was out there. Believe me it took me a week of reading and searching. I was seeing that 2+2 did not equal 5. I also took with me one of my customers who had opened up a store there too.

Now I did get an email from a couple of poppers who wanted to know more about why I had left. I filled them in but didn't hear anything back from them again. I also see they still have their stores open. So I guess I wasn't convincing enough to get them to see through all that koolaid

I doubt the Buddhist seller will ever complain, either.

I empathize with the recent opinions expressed regarding the Christian emphasis cultivated on WP. I consider myself a Christian but know to keep it between Him and me.

I hope you weren't offended by what I said earlier. Your position on this is the way it should be. We should be strong in our philisophical or spiritual pursuits--but we shouldn't make our open-for-everybody businesses all about our personal beliefs (or agendas), unless that is the specific nature of the business (a la Christian book store).

Totally agreed. Personally, I also think it cheapens the power of prayer to stick it on a message board. It's one thing to express kind thoughts to those in need and another to daily request prayer help for poor business and marital troubles.

The link I provided indicates that the server WP uses is open and vulnerable to scammers/spammers who's intent is to cull emails for their own purposes. Thank you for cementing my suspicion that this was the source. Already, my spam count is going down. Fab, (I can't remember all these new fancy names you people have adopted) I never saw your post expressing your thoughts on this. I wish I had!

The princess didn't start out selling the logos, that came later. When she posted on TT it was spamming for WP, she has flip flopped multiple times, including posting on PSU, stating is ray karen? Then immediately she was back on WP cheerleading, and attacking many members when the subject of advertising came up. Wake me up was there at the very beginning, I remember because I was going to contact her if I decided to open a store. I am glad that you are in touch with her.

I like to buy and pay immediately which is one of the main reasons I shop at Amazon instead of eBay .  There is no fr_k'n way I'm going to waste time posting on a WP message board and sit around waiting for someone to maybe find something in their closet.

I have been away for a few hours and just got caught up reading back a few pages. They say laughter adds years to your life well if it does I gained a decade or two when I read about the new buyer there 1 minute and gone the next. I also checked the xbox out and let me put it this way. The description wasn't worth the look no effort at all.

There are a few different ways you can find whatever it is your are looking for.

1. Keyword Search in main site

2. Category Browse using "Show All Items" button, and using subcategorization to browse populated subcategories

3. Keyword Search in Stores

4. Search Stores by Category

5. Create new Listing Alerts for automatic email notification when items matching your criteria are listed

Additionally, once you find a seller that has related items, you can keyword and/or category search within their listings or Store.

All OK so far.

Our estimates project as long as 4-6 years before almost all categories and subcategories are fully populated. There are just under 16,000 current active categories/subcategories.

Edited to add: what do they mean by fully populated, anyway? 1 item in each area or 1 million in sports cards?

You dilemma is an excellent example of the opportunity Wagglepop represents for sellers who specialize in those items, but are not yet participating sellers Smiley

Or an excellent example of how WP is only drawing certain types of sellers for a reason.
