Thanks for the update Regic.  I guess that's because, unfortunately, WP2 has remained live longer. But for how much longer? Which reminds me. Did anyone consolidate the dates given in the pool started a few months ago as to just how long it will survive?

You know, spreading the word about Ebay via newsgroups
and online forums was a really common practice back in
the early days of Ebay. Back in 1997-1998 I spent a lot
of time directing people to my wares offered there through
just those venues of promotion (Ebay also used to tell
people to utilize such methods to promote their materials,
though they don't now).

Awareness is the main thing here -- getting people to
know that Wagglepop exists. When I direct people to my
store here it's with a link to both my store as well as my
"ME" page --- but after looking over my stuff then they
can go browsing the rest of the site and perhaps find things
of interest in other people's stores too.

Little by little we can raise people's awareness about WP --
it's just going to take time. Then again, Ebay wasn't built
in a day either.

The "How To Sell On Wagglepoop" book will be released in the new year.

The comparison to eBay and the methods used for advertising in their "early days" is a valid one. I think sometimes we can forget exactly how the growth of eBay occurred, and tend to picture it only as the huge enterprise it is today.

In many ways, Wagglepop is a very close parallel to the dynamic that helped eBay became known, then used, then used by almost everyone.

Your real-world example is a wonderful reminder that the ways and means of building a business are the same for Wagglepop sellers as they have been for all sellers, both online and off, for centuries:

Good products. Good value. Good service. Solid promotion strategies.
