I have to be honest (donning flame-retardant suit) Meg & Billy are starting to look like saints compared to this nut job.
I won't flame you on that. I think Meg and Bill are just trying to meet investor expectations for profit with some rather poor decisions. A totally different situation from WP.
Lol, thanks, I see it the same way, a business that has made poor decisions. I suppose its not a fair comparison in the sense that WP isn't a business anyway. The way people go for eBay's jugular on the WP boards, however, suggests that they actively 'compare' the leadership/management decisions of the two. In my mind, no comparison. I don't like the decisions made at eBay, cringe at the money I spend, but I see a return on my investment every month and I do have some confidence that its being run by BUSINESS people. Not egomaniacal boinktards that are using pets for staff.

If not yet, it won't be long. Unless we start deleting 3 songs for every 2 written!!

Quote:I was surprised that the posts were not moved to the new forum.

While I do not mean to debate the policy or anyones interpretation of it by posting this, I do think moving the posts instead of deleting them would have be a nice gesture.
  Hello2

Quote:Yes, it would have been a nice gesture, yet I can fully understand why the slate was started clean. There was an awful lot of petty nonsense in practically every one of those threads that had no business being on this forum, much less be moved to a brand new forum.

It's one thing to state that you're closing your store and that you're moving on. It's another to add spiteful comments that harm others' reputations here and elsewhere.

As a business woman of nearly 38 years, I believe we should always keep in mind that we're in a business environment and should speak to others in a professional manner.

********,

Beautifully said, and precisely reflective of the intention of this new policy Smile

Quote:You have to remember this is not the same situation as a b&m business. While we deal with customers and other business in a similar fashion, forums have traditionally been a more open place of discussion.

There are many posts that don't belong on these boards if you wish to take a strict view of whats allowed. Should we delete all those posts to keep the professional image of WP? No more posting about a new grandchild or other off topic cheerful news? Or posts by people seeking aid or support during times of trouble from the other sellers ?

Seriously, how many of us would post on these boards if there was no community spirit and only strict professional business discussions?

Farewell greetings are a part of any community. Even strict businesses that wish to keep moral up have farewell parties for departing employees. Otherwise the employers are viewed as cold without feeling to their employees.

*****,

The general feeling is that anyone who does not wish to participate on Wagglepop, of course, has that right do do so as an adult with the ability to make those kinds of decisions.

However, posting in the Community forums is a privelege of membership, and with that privelege comes responsibilities and guidelines.

While we do understand that WP will not be a good fit for every online seller, there is no reason, however, that we should provide an outlet for anything other than constructive and support-based interaction.

These boards are strictly for courteous, respectful, and constructive exchanges of thoughts and ideas that support the community as a whole.

We think providing the new forum was rather generous considering we are, of course, under no obligation to do so Smile

Providing a forum is generous..... :wtf:

Of course, you're under no obligation to do anything but cancel accounts, delete posts and rob people blind.

This is just a little something I came up with. I can almost picture it  >Big Grin

KaRayDrew is pacing the floor
Wearing the pink bathrobe and slippers,
Tapping his/her/it's temple mumbling
We have to try to keep the pippers.

"THINK, OTHER SELVES, THINK,
WE have to think of a way
To get more sellers in here
To replace the ones that stormed away

We need to come up with a new scheme
To get the sellers to pay more money
Since so many sellers have left us
We'll spike the Kool-Aid with honey

Seems many are realizing the truth
That all we are after is their cash
We need to cast a new spell on them
So they won't do the wagglepop dash

We'll be sitting here day and night
Ready to hit the delete key
We have to keep them from asking questions
And make sure they all pay their fee

DEAD ON POINT, ECLECTICA!

A couple points of observation about the now-infamous "Farewell" Board.

1) Notice positioning -- all the way at the bottom of the screen, separated from all the other forums, where NO ONE would expect to find it, and probably very few will. Had I not known it was supposed to be there, SOMEWHERE on the page, I would never have found it myself.

2) Consider the reasoning for having a board "separate and removed" from the boards that receive activity.

  a. To show Poppers there is a distinction between the "trust-based" and those without the "sensibilities" needed to become part of the "chosen" group. This is clearly a cult strategy, and as one member here suggested, a "thinly veiled insult".

  b. So that only others who expect to leave will see it.  If it truly is a place for Poppers to say farewell, what "long haul "Popper is going to go there purely to see if any of their friends have posted and will be leaving? This makes no sense, whatsoever! The only other Poppers viewing this board are going to be " ex" or soon-to-be "ex"-Poppers viewing each other's farewell posts. Since KaRay doesn't give a rat's ass about them anyway, why not quaranteen them to a board of their own, so as not to infect the faithful.

This is so UNBUSINESSLIKE and childish, it makes me Puke It's KaRay's last harrah at a cheap shot -- forcing those who are in the process of leaving and wish to say goodby to the fools left behind off into a corner in shame with dunce hats on their heads. Can you imagine any REAL business acting like this? Can you see Bill Gates ostracizing any of his employees for wanting to leave the company? And Poppers aren't even employees!!!!!!! THIS IS INSANE!!!!!!!!!!

Poppers, if any of you are lurking, GRAB YOUR INVENTORY AND RUN! Do yourselves a favor and stop feeding this dead horse. Swallow your pride, chalk it up to experience, and go someplace where you will be appreciated and there's money to be made.

Boo

Doesn't every non private online auction site have forums? They provide the forum out of necessity not generosity.
