Since he could open it up to international sellers, given that rscript has the features, it doesn't cost him anything, so what do you suppose is the reason he wouldn't do it.
That's an easy one to answer: it's part of his marketing plan. There are a few lists in this thread of rscript features Ray has been holding back on. Every few months he turns on a feature and claims his engineering staff built it from scratch and the Poppers eat it up. The first one he turned on and took credit for was the Froogle feed, and he's done it with several other features (and then there was the 3rd party crap bulk lister he took credit for)
|

Quote:The unique element of this expansion is that we will be limiting registration locales that may sell on Wagglepop, in our ongoing commitment to a fair and competitive marketplace, while expanding the area in which buyers may register to browse and buy from the site. TRANSLATION: We're getting rid of Canadian and UK sellers. Too damn much trouble. They are smart, clever, and we know some have figured out the scam and are probably already spreading blogs about us in places we may eventually want to spam our brains out to get more innocents. SO, off with their heads for now. We are, however, considering opening WP to buyers in Nigeria. Quote:In support of this expansion we will be introducing upgrades to the Registration process, which will include strict verifiable elements and multiple verifications before any new account can be activated. TRANSLATION: We already have a ridiculous registration process requiring every registrant to submit under oath to pay us every month. Although this makes no sense whatsoever to anybody who just wants to come in and buy, it's sellers we want, not buyers, so we don't much care. Apart from that, we already ask for lots of personal information: email, address, date of birth, etc., etc. If we were a real business with nothing to hide, this would be more than enough to ask from anybody to register on our site. But since we are basically scammers and cultists, we want to make our enterprise as secretive and exclusionary as we can, to keep those who we've kicked out for unacceptable behavior (like asking business questions) from re-registering so they can lurk the boards and report on our absurdities. We are thereby making revisions to our registration process, such as requiring registrants to provide work phones, cell phone numbers, mother's maiden name, name of next of kin, medical records, social security numbers, tax ID numbers, a Google Earth view of their home with the address for verification, proof of citizenship and a driver's license number. The more we know about you and the less you know about us, the more control we have and the less you have. We can't ask this stuff from international sellers, that's why we're kicking them out, in addition to the reason already mentioned. We knew if we just sprang this decision on our membership, they would probably all mutiny, so we made up the story about our wonderful "expansion" plans so it looks like we're growing, doing wonderful things, and divert the attention to something other than our paranoid control over your livelihoods. OK. Nigeria was a little joke. Ha, Ha. In the end, we'll have a bigger and stronger marketplace, and a membership body that understands and respects the User Agreement in total. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Alskling, Great post.
Highlights- The strict requirements including I am sure CC verification for new accounts is being done for the following reasons: A. To gain further control over x-poppers reregistering a new id. He doesn't want anyone lurking on his boards except those he currently controls. B. He wants to be able to charge fees to sellers CC once he bans them off the site. Keep in mind these fees are under most circumstances invalid, illegal, not owed,etc... The collection agency threat is merely that. Who in their right mind would turn someone over to collection for owing 10 or 20 bucks? Those agencies take a substantial percentage of the debt, and would outright reject taking a case for 10 dollars in debt Reality Time: If Ray starts requiring CC for buyer and sellers, he can kiss that site goodbye. First of all WP has no recognition in the OAI, people are afraid to go buy a 10 dollar item on this site because it is new, so why on earth would anyone buyer or seller give their CC info. to a site that doesn't even disclose who the owner is, with a private whois record, and a site that is still owned and operated by the same person who pulled the plug on his site the first time. Not to mention the absolute disregard for user's privacy by exposing the digits of their credit cards the first go round. In his efforts to control the members on WP this in my humble opinion will be the nail in the coffin of this site. All to control a forum! |

If you are someone who desires a profit from your online business don't bother to register. We will only max out your CC or bank account so as to keep wagglepop a viable and attractive online venue for new recruits. let the truth be told u1it4less - "it's all in the name.."
