Hey all,

Coming out of lurk mode to reply to this...
Just wanted to say the reason behind this thread was to also help other designers on these boards
As you see i say terry may be along to help. Hoping she would see this and use it to promote her business.
I was creating little siggies not logos and only to drive traffic to my store, or other designers who participated. And at the same time helping new sellers.
Anyway I wanted to clear that up for you!

Terry, don't you dare skulk away. Revert to lurkdom. Did Disney create this "dom"? If they did, I want to sue... Misrepresentation!! Is there a lawyer in the house?  TALK TO ME!

Seriously Terry, you are in such a unique position. You are admired for your talent and artistic skills on both sides of the fence. You are respected for your selflessness and willingness to help anyone who asks it of you. Verified by people on WP and  TT simultaneously. Oh my Gosh!! Something we can actually agree on. Testified by current and past WP sellers who have had the privilege to work or commune with you. Now that is not a position many of us can claim. Take it, cherish it, run with it.

Quote:I have a difficult time understanding how giving away logos for free could possibily benefit a graphic designer who does this for a living. Why should I give away the one commodity that earns me a living and keeps the roof over my head?

I sincerely admire your kind and generous offer to help sellers who didn't have a siggy make a presence on the board. Once that offer was out there, though, even sellers who might have had a budget for a logo likely wouldn't purchase one, let alone a SECOND one. Why should they? Even if it wasn't exactly what they wanted, most would simply stick with it anyhow because the price was right.

Whether it was related to the offer or not, I'm not sure, but I certainly noticed a drop in business from that point forward.

Let's turn the tables a bit, and use your toy business as an example...

Say somebody comes to you and says, "Once I have the XYZ action figure, my collection will be complete. Oh, but I can't afford to buy it. Wanna just give it to me?" Knowing that once they have that one, they aren't likely to be back for more, would you still give it to them as a means of promoting your business? My guess is no.

However, all this said, it was not the reason I left Wagglepop. 'Nuff said.

Back to lurkdom...

Terry

I'm so glad to see you.  When I read that post offering free siggies (yes, I lurk over on the dark side) I cringed.  Friendly competition is one thing, but giving away a product that others have worked hard to perfect and sell is wrong.

Your logos and templates are of the highest quality.  I hope that you find a good home away from WP - for both of your ventures.

I don't get involved in the boards over there - I just watch and wait.  I'm sure you will be successful wherever you go.

Happy Holidays

Sandra

My punching bag is bye bye. You mean you are the only person in the world that didn't see my pathetic attempt at revealing myself? I mentioned you & my bag. It's gone now.

Yea, actually I did see it. But I needed to hear it again.  Thanks for playing the "WEAKEST LINK" with me.  Bu Bye.... Happy001 Happy001

Smileywelcome wakemeup  Hello Hello

I was once a popper, but no more. I was a buyer considering opening a store. If I had opened a store, I would have been a customer of yours. I admire your work and wish I had just a tiny portion of the talent you have. When I saw the offer for free siggies, I was shocked that someone would do that on a site where someone sells the same thing (and much more) of such high quality. Please keep us informed as to where you are/will be selling your wonderful creations. When I do start selling online, I would like to buy my logo and whatever else I need from you.
