Wagglepop has pulled out the sleazy misleading statistics trick as a way to justify not advertising. To illustrate the trick they're using, here are the Alexa stats for a couple of our sites. Both sites are accessible by more than one domain name site A (both domains are the same site): tulipsandbears.co.uk 29,100 tulipsandbears.com 375,000 site B (both domains are the same site): tuliptools.com 74,700 boinktard.com (not in top 5 mill) If you use the 2nd domain in both of the above examples it would appear that neither site has any traffic. Wagglepop is using this same trick with stats it is showing its members for eBay Express. All of the links on the eBay site and on the eBay Express site, and all of the traffic, for eBay Express use the URL www.express.ebay.com. WP however is showing its members the Alexa figures for the seldom used ebayexpress.com forwarding URL (same site as www.express.ebay.com but vastly different Alexa numbers). WP is nowhere near the eBay Express website in terms of traffic, but by using this flaw in the Alexa system that assigns multiple traffic ranks to the same site if the site has more than one URL pointing to it, WP is misleading its members into falsely thinking WP's traffic is beating eBay Express. The figures Karen WP is quoting below are for the seldom used ebayexpress.com forwarding URL not for the real URL www.express.ebay.com karen wp Wrote:According to today's Alexa Traffic Rank (lower is better): karen wp Wrote:From our perspective, while eBay continues to spend *millions* of dollars on conventional advertising for eBay Express (print, TV, radio, etc.), the numbers we've referred to today clearly show that you cannot create demand with advertising; you can only reinforce it. http://forms5.createonlineforms.com/4627/form_1_1.html poop 1 memories: the SEO lies
Ok, so this might be totally a coincidence, but if I'm correct, this link takes you to a piece of the first WP1 software that was used for stores. Did anyone notice the "example name"? Like I said, might be totally coincidence, but the name says "Karen's Scented Candles." KAREN. |

Here's a new one for me. Anyone else found similar? Did you know Wagglepoop has a Trading Assistant program?
Well one popper is convinced it exists and is advertising such on their ME page. Quote from the page mentioned: Quote:Wagglepop Trading Assistant Well I've scoured the terms and conditions and all the other do's and don'ts posted by management on WP and I've not found any reference to this innovative idea. (please picture tongue in cheek and hand over mouth while discussing this eBay clone.) Hey, a brilliant approach; If my items don't sell - maybe someone else's will.

Quote:I saw the Tazbar commercial on youtube, it is very clever. Alskling your items could probably do very well in the UK, as you carry many european brands. I wish lady, ORUS,hollaback good luck with the new venture. Thanks Chiquita! It's fun being there at the beginning. Not too many Americans yet have posted, maybe about a dozen, but we have to start somewhere. Poor things...they are stuck with me. Hollabackgirl tells me to blow you some kisses |

Lots of information going on here. I am moving my stuff off of WP because of lack of sales and moving my wares to another site, and for other various reasons. ray's profile with imported feedback (1829 from ebay + 2 from WP) http://www.wagglepop.com/bin/auction/vie...w_feedback&userID=1 ray's brother's profile with feedback imported from ray's ebay account: (1829 from ebay + 3 from WP) http://www.wagglepop.com/bin/auction/vie...w_feedback&userID=6 ray's ebay feedback (1829_ http://feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback&userid=paper272 I have seen this mentioned before and if any of you have been an administrator of a site, you will know that you can do whatever with your site that you want to do, and that includes making your feedback to whatever it is that you want to make it. Ray, could have made his feedback 10,000 if he so wished. This Admin account of Ray's appears to be a testing account and all Admins have these accounts, even eBay. My own website has an Admin Panel and I have total control over my entire site. Fake accounts are used to test. Nothing more and nothing less. Ebay also has propriotory rights over feedback earned at the ebay site. I'm not in defence of WP or Ray or anything, but things must be kept credible if you want to make a point. Again, not in defence of Ray or WP or anybody, but if you think censorship is bad at WP, take a stroll over to the ebay.com community boards and you will see censorship at it's best or worst. The only topics that are passable over there are warm fuzzy threads. Anything else and you get pink slapped, and usually buys you a time out in the naughty corner. It's WP's sandbox and they can do what they want, it's that simple. Just like it's ebay's sandbox and they can and will do everything that they want. It's like if you had somebody in your own home badmouthing you and your family. Would you not ask them to leave and escort them to the door? Freedom of speech begins at your mouth or typing fingers and it ends at my ears or eyes and in this case WP's ears or eyes. I was banned from ebay.ca community boards for more than a year, simply because I dared to question one of their heavy handed pinks. So, ta for now and I'm still reading. edited because I meant to say take a stroll over to the ebay.ca community boards. There is so much contrast between the .com and .ca boards. |

Sniped by overhead. And another one gone :turkey2: :turkey2: :turkey2:
Hey banana, when you hang out in an earthbound cluster: look up! I watched this last one leave. Two items listed. They went poof as I was looking. Just a coincidence. BTW, none of the recent sellers who have said Goodbye and thanks for all the fish, are the ones I alluded to yesterday. They are up and coming to the impact on the numbers. And silly me thought it would take until December 31st to drop below 600.
