Oh, and Princess: Was it YOU that provided us with the "warm fuzzies" post? Chiquita and I nearly puked when we saw that one. I especially couldn't believe it, as I recall PMing you early on about WP and how I thought it was a scam and got the feeling you were having some second thoughts, as well. Not long after the PM, I received my termination notice, so Chiquita and I thought maybe you were reeling me in to "turn me in" to KaRay, since you came back on the boards with pompoms all ablaze after my departure.
guilty of starting the thread. but I wasn't turning anyone in. I don't operate that way. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Good Morning,
I have been reading some of this thread and would like to know what are some of the better selling alternatives to E-Bay & WP. I have already tried Yahoo, BlueJay, Ioffer, Overstock, and WP. The only place I got any sales were WP, so if they are as bad as you all say, what other auction sites do you suggest? I am honestly sick of moving all my items around and keeping track of it all on different sites. If there is a thread that discusses this will someone please lead me in the right direction? Thanks. |

Quote:guilty of starting the thread. but I wasn't turning anyone in. I don't operate that way. I didn't think you would, but I was so beaten by all the cheerleading, deception, confusion, mixed messages, rudeness by other members, as well as KaRay, enforcement of double standards, etc. FYI: One of my customers WAS CONTACTED by Karen via email WITHOUT my or her permission or foreknowledge, referring to a comment I made in a PM to her, so Karen saying she has no way of intercepting PMs is a lie. It was in specific reference to an item my client had purchased and we mutually agreed to cancel the transaction due to a problem beyond either of our controls. Karen contacted my buyer to "check up" on my story. My buyer was very offended that staff would question my or her motives (this particular buyer had been a long time customer from eBay and very loyal), and I was infuriated that Karen contacted her without my knowledge. Had she not told me, I would never had known. AND WP CALLS ITSELF A BUSINESS!! So, IT IS VERY POSSIBLE KARAY INTERCEPTED AND READ MY PM TO YOU, and I became a marked woman. At this point, nothing would surprise me regarding the gestapo tactics KaRay uses to maintain control. |

Quote:saying she has no way of intercepting PMs is a lieThe PMs are stored in a database table unencrypted. All she needs is phpmyadmin (a standard feature on most hosting accounts) and she can read/delete the PMs directly in the database. |

Brat.
It depends on what you sell. If you sell handmade items, I hear that etsy is good for many. If you sell antiques, some people do very well on rubylane.
Bratpack! A lot of it really depends on what you sell. If you can tell us generally, you may get better replies. There really isn't any one 'magic' place. What works for one person won't necessarily work for another. Browse through the forums here, there's quite a large section with alternative auction sites that can give you an idea of what's going on. Also, visit the PSU threads (http://www.powersellersunite.com), they also have a board dedicated to other sites. I encourage everyone to start your own site NOW! It takes time to build up a 'presence' and traffic. There are lots of options out there for sites ranging from already set up shopping carts for those who don't know HTML to just hosting plans for those who are able to set up their own site. Ask lots of questions and research, research, research!! There are many helpful threads here at TT and great people willing to lend suggestions and tips. Best of luck to you!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:what other auction sites do you suggest? The question can't be answered without knowing what you sell, how much you sell, and what country you're based in. The only US/Canada/UK off ebay auction sites where sellers can regularly sell in the $1000s monthly: Specialized: Media items: Amazon Marketplace (not auctions) is better than eBay for media Domain name sales: Afternic and Sedo are both much better than eBay. General (new items) uBid: Very good if you qualify as a seller Overstock: OK sales if you're BuySafe bonded and sell new items. Low sales if you're not BuySafe bonded or if you sell used items, collectibles, etc. Yahoo (general), Etsy (handmade), are the next step down in sales from the above but are better than the 100s of auction sites running cheap rscript or phpprobid software. The average seller on most smaller off eBay auction sites is lucky to get 10 sales per year. Seller to seller sales and few outside buyers are the norm on most small sites and have been for years (as have a string of site owners like Ray claiming to be the next eBay challenger and making promises they can't deliver). On the bright side, if you live in New Zealand (TradeMe.co.nz) or China, Poland, Switzerland, and a dozen other Asian and European countries where QXL-owned or Yahoo-owned auction sites are the market leaders you do have viable alternatives to eBay.
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"
"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site. best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011 |

After I quit spamming eBay boards with WP hurrahs, I started lurking.. and learning. a lot. by the way I apparently am stupid and misquoted that 3-year-goal should be 1-year-goal which WP has already surpassed. No matter. Regardless, I have begun to like lurking, but occasionally I'll jump in and surprise people. I was around FAS the last time, but didn't have a chance to open up at WP before the site fell. Now this impersonation of Karen that you speak of.. why and how would he do this and have time to do everything else and what makes you think it's him? I'm asking seriously, because I want to know. Name's Miranda, by the way...
Miranda...you were around the first time and still opened a store on WP after all the crap that went down, I don't get it.
Good bye all
Enjoy your freedom Use it well |

I guess K/R hasn't yet learned his/her lesson: "CareaSeller, Your current balance of $2.25 is due and payable at this time as it exceeds $2.00, the minimum standard for payment. According to our records, that will be the first payment you've ever made on the account, as you have been below the threshold until this invoicing period. The bulk of your changes are $0.05 each, for Insertion Fees, Additional Image Fees, and Thumbnail Gallery Fees. You can view all of your fees by clicking the Transactions link in My Wagglepop. You can make payment by clicking the same Transactions link Karen - WP Customer Care" Possible seller: "I was considering selling here but this post has me rethinking that. Is it normal for you to discuss seller's details in an open board rather than through private emails? I would hate to see me financial information posted. Financial information such as whether a person has paid a bill or how the bill was incurred should be in private emails, not posted on the board for everyone to see. It doesn't make this site seem professional, secure and trustworthy when I see something like that." K/R's defense: "The information about timelines, mimimum standards for payment, and how to make payment was worthwhile and useful information for all members to read." Oh, I get it. KAREN'S DISCUSSION OF PERSONAL AND CONFIDENTIAL INFORMATION ON A SELLER'S ACCOUNT IS OUT OF KINDNESS AND AS A PUBLIC SERVICE TO ALL WP SELLERS. Well, slap my face.
bumping |
