Quote:they have shut down at least 30 stores

More important than 30 stores closing is that there are 30 people who can no longer buy on the site, 30 people who can no longer run auctions on the site.

If Ray seriously wants to be an alternative to eBay he needs to change the ridiculous NARU'ing of users when they close their stores.  There are sellers on eBay who open and close their stores several times a year, but their ability to buy and sell on the site isn't dependent on them keeping a store open. Fixing this problem should be at the top of Ray's list. The site definitely needs this to be fixed much more than it needs an eBay Voices of the Community clone "We the People" program.

ps Happy New Year everyone Smile

I just got home from work and am playing catch up here on this thread as to the goings on over at Pop Land. And I can honestly say I am shocked at what I'm reading.

How many times are they going to blame the number of store closings on 'reviewing' seller's accounts? When I was a member there, I remember Karen saying when they got done doing 'housekeeping' and got rid of the delinquent accounts, the number would level off at 700 stores. Seems to me Karen missed that number by quite a lot, and is doing 'housekeeping' again to account for the mass exodus that seems to be happening.

Manually updating the home page with the correct number of listings???  :wtf:

And who is Karen trying to impress with using the word malfeasance?

Wake Up Poppers! Open your eyes and look at what is going on at Pop Land.

**Edited cause I can't seem to spell today  :-[

Sounds like the sellers have become nasty infiltrators now too! Tongue2

Happy New Year, all!

WAGGLEFACT #1 FOR NEW YEARS

MANUAL COUNT!

12/31/06 3:30PM EST

WP homepage listing count = 157,328

Manual count done by truth from view all stores pages = 148,347

WP stores count = 556 (I noticed quite a few new stores replacing older stores on many different pages)

Please note due to the sharp drop in stores there will be multiple wagglefacts today in an effort to bring you the best information as it happens.

Manual count  by Ladyrock from view all store pages = 147,699

This is the weirdest math I have ever seen!

There is a 9,629 listing difference there.

Also what is with the manual count! Wasn't is stated somewhere before that this was set to do it automatically. I believe I remember at the beginning sellers were complaining about the numbers not updating soon enough and that it was fixed.

This is from Customer service on the stores board message boards on WP, :turkey2: An interesting read Toothy2
Stores now stand at 558

Hello Members,

Just an update on one of the tasks/events noted in the "Upcoming Changes" thread.

The account-by-account reviews of all seller accounts (and all accounts in general) opened and used in 2006 have begun as of this morning.

These reviews are intended to determine the seller body that will move forward with Wagglepop in 2007.

We are reviewing each account status for delinquency or patterns of delinquency, validity of contact information, and evidence of registration or site activity malfeasance, if any. If necessary we use the cooperation of ISPs and IP proxy tools to determine the exact location of offenders.

Those accounts which do not pass the basic points for participation above will be either suspended or terminated with outstanding balances sent for collection.

Those with evidence of impropriety that we already have tracked or find anew (identity theft, fraud, interference, IP proxy misuse) that may have legal implications will be referred to legal for investigation and if necessary contact with the proper jurisdictions for prosecution.

We are in the active process of integrating a completely new "checks and balances" system for 2007 and beyond that will automate account status checking/actions as well as implement a completely new registration process. Already started, this new system will be completely installed before the end of January, and likely much sooner.

These new systems will support a membership body with tangibly verifiable registration information as well as ensuring that all members' seller accounts will be in good standing at all times, without exception.

All membership in good standing deserves our very best efforts in this regard.

Happy new year
