YOHB,

So you were the one who asked about the name? I remember that post.

Karen got on the thread and said it was some secret that even SHE was not allowed to know. Someone else jumped on and said he/she saw a post by Ray the first time around saying that he just liked the name and that it meant nothing, like Yahoo and Google. I then jumped on the thread to say that Yahoo and Google were actual words and meant something before they were adopted by business entities. I'm sure it came from somewhere, but Ray is just too embarrassed to divulge -- probably a potty word from when he was 3.

Yep, that was me - my post. I honestly wanted to know so I could explain it to people I discussed WP with. People I tried to recruit to WP as buyers. Some folks might have been titillated by the mysterious answer but I found the response from Karay disturbing. What was the big deal? It shouldn't be cryptic so I chalked it up as paranoid and began to look for other benchmarks of this trait. And I didn't have to look too far or too long.

Alskling, thank you very much for your kind words.

I don't believe DRM is Ray, either. I know some thought so, and I have thought before that he could be a Ray-addicted-to-the-boards stress-relief puppet, but I don't think so anymore.

I forgot that the third theory about DRM was that he doesn't believe anything he really posts at all, and thinks the whole thing is funny (and tries to be as weird as possible).

The third theory might be possible--but it seems if one were doing it to be funny, it would get old. He's been at this since the beginning!

By the way, in response to deepriverman/saturn's post at PSU:

Quote:with ecrater there is another issue with them getting sales .. its about google having them as a google checkout partner store.. and google gives 10 dollars if a buyer shops at one of their partner stores and uses checkout but that is a one time thing per store....
if one reads the feedbacks on ecrater one will see that buyers do not like the site...their sales is because of something google is doing not because of being buyer friendly which they are NOT... the feedback says things like great service buy a cumberson site.. which it is.. very hard to read any descriptions

You don't have to offer Google Checkout as a payment option.

If buyers are pissed because Google Checkout can be cumbersome (which it can be), then don't offer it.

At least, I'm assuming that's what the second half of his post was trying to imply; Buyers on eCrater think it sucks because Google Checkout sucks.

Most of us have either thought that he's:

A.) A friend / relative / or another incarnation of Ray, hell bent on promoting the site in an evangelical manner

or

B.) A lunatic who somehow surfed onto FAS from the eBay boards when the first Poppers were spamming for WP1 on the eBay boards. Some kind of obsessive site stalker (if you think of his obsession in terms of a fan stalking a celebrity... you can see similarities).

But what do I know? He once told me I have "low logic."
[/quote]

Bolding mine. That would tell me that not only are his ramblings incoherent, he has difficulty with reading comprehension as well. Then - you are always logical and to the point. I'm going with answer B  Big Grin

Edited to add: I should have read Alskling's reply first, exactly what I was thinking!

I'm not sure this is what he means. Problem is, whatever is says is full of nonsense. I actually read this to mean that the reason buyers were using eCrater was BECAUSE of Google check out's $10 credit offer.

I think this guy is just a total nut case. I hope he gets reported to the PSUadmin.

If I remember correctly DRM once implied on FAS that he posted the way he does as an experiment in psychology and that he was just messing with people's minds.

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
The more I read, the worse it got.  I am not offended at the term "cheerleader".  When I believe in my product and my site, I cheer louder than anyone.  I don't think that is name calling.  I think the sellers at WP that have responded so defiantly do not represent some of the best sellers that WP has.

I know that there are some fine sellers with great handmade and specialty products there.  It is those sellers that I hope to support and help in any way that I can.

The few that pop up from time to time seem to rotate as the dynamics change at WP.  I, for one, was a big WP supporter and very proud of it.  When I woke up and left, someone else took my place, etc, etc, etc.

I wish the best of luck in the new year to the finest sellers at WP.
