Please shoot me if I completely lose my wits and am even TEMPTED to list ONE ITEM at that place.

Reading thru that thread, it's SO obvious that Karen is Ray Romeo.  Still a hot-headed STFU and 'be gone' personality.  Gosh.  Those poor people who are believing in him again....

How can they be such idiots to stay when they see postings like that?  BangHead
Jerks.  I have no sympathy any more.

Perspective from the 'buyer, never been an auction seller corner' Smile

Buyer orientated home page: auctions.amazon.co.uk
Another buyer focused home page: auctions.overstock.com
primarily seller orientated home page: www.wagglepop.com

Can you guess which one would make me hit the back button as a buyer?

The Wagglepop home page tells me the site's main focus is collecting seller fees rather than attracting buyers.

Mandy - VERY astute! I guess he really is just a slime preying on non-business low level eBay sellers who are vulnerable. Boo The first time I thought maybe it was just a massive screw up, but now... Kim

In a tiny defense of RR, the front page IS designed to attract sellers right now -- to get enough inventory to attract buyers in the near future.

It remains to be seen when he might change the front page to be buyer oriented -- if at all -- and markets the site somewhere other than the ebay stores board in the form of spam.

As a note:  He'll never go anywhere with this site if he continues to monitor and post on the boards in the name of *Karen*.  :Smile

How much is enough inventory to attract buyers?  Bidville has 1 million listings and after 6 years  it's still nothing but sellers buying from other sellers.  LiveDeal has over 2 million listings and over $5 BILLION in merchandise listed (lots of autos) and yet the sell through rate is very low .

The build it and they will come line that KarenRay is spouting to his Poppers has been proven to be crap over the years when the "it" in question is a general auction site.  Unless you have an ad budget of a few million to do national advertising (which WP doesn't) or a unique product for buyers (eBay clone WP doesn't.  Bidz, Afternic, and Sedo do), the buyers won't even know the site exists and will have no reason to come to another general auction site.

After I quit spamming eBay boards with WP hurrahs, I started lurking.. and learning. a lot.  by the way I apparently am stupid and misquoted that 3-year-goal should be 1-year-goal which WP has already surpassed.  No matter.  Regardless, I have begun to like lurking, but occasionally I'll jump in and surprise people. Smile

I was around FAS the last time, but didn't have a chance to open up at WP before the site fell.  Now this impersonation of Karen that you speak of.. why and how would he do this and have time to do everything else and what makes you think it's him?

I'm asking seriously, because I want to know.

Individuals think, speak, and write in their own unique manner.  These three things are like a voiceprint or fingerprint.  They are easily recognizable with a personality all their own.  Even behind a posting ID they will show their faces and can't be hidden.

If you had read his informative marketing lectures on FAS, as well as his diatribes, you would have no doubt either.

Even when one tries to write like "someone else," our syntax and diction is deeply programmed. It's very hard to sound different--even when you're consciously trying, because we each have a set span of "materials" with which we can engage in conversation.

Hmmmmmm............I agree with Stardust and Thentavius.
We all have distinctive conversational styles that are readily apparent whether we are speaking or writing.
Everyone I know of who remembers Ray from FAS or from WP's first incarnation, is convinced that "Karen" is another of his personas.

Btw, I had a msg from a poster on another board today, asking me if my persona there was in reality me, here.
It is difficult to write as though you are two different people.
