Hey Guys! I'm trying to put together an eCrater store, but I haven't gotten past the downloading a logo, picking the colors and "about me" stage. Anybody have time to PM me and help walk me through it? I don't see any FAQs anywhere to help me, or maybe they're there but I don't know where to look.

Hey babe... go to the forums... there is a subject there called "What to do after you sign up"... I read all thru it and it was really helpful.  Make sure your logo is saved to your computer before uploading it.  That might help.

The forums are friendly too... very nice people.

Way OT, I know a few people have been opening eCrater stores. Is there a certain category that seems to do well there? My latest plunge is body jewelry. I did open up a second eBay shop and its moving along but I'm thinking of branching out a bit. The fees aren't killing me, just would like to shuffle the eggs a little, lol. Any advise - I love you guys!! Feel free to PM if you'd rather!!)

Lol, thanks Platzki! I wish I was moneybags - that be my goal and durn it I'm a determined one!
Seriously, it looks like I made the right choice. Since most of the jewelry is under $10, its going to be more cost-effective to have the second store.

Hey Alskling - I gotta run to the PO but I'll be back shortly and will take a peek for you also - PM me Smile

Bratpack:
Quote:Are we reading the same post? The poster started off by saying "I'm bad". Obviously they knew that they were doing something wrong. Next line- I clicked on one of the ads 3 times and the popper got all excited to see the number of clicks, blind trust that countermeasures are in place. Note the way he is talking about this seller he did this too. Last line- I am tempted to pm the seller so they can see if they are charged for the clicks. The poster did not say they contacted the seller or was their any hint of guilt in this posters statement. Infact, they sound like they were very proud of what they did, so proud in fact that they could not wait to get on the board and share what they did with all of you.

I have one question to ask and then I am going to leave this topic alone. Why spend so much time trying to belittle and hurt the sellers who choose to sell on WP? I can certainly understand a need to blow off some steam if you feel you have been done wrong by someone but the extent of this hatrid that many TT posters have is sickening. The lengths that some are going is unbelievable, and they are doing things to mess with peoples businesses.

I think someone here needs to pull a bunch of posts here (of which there are hundreds) regarding how we support the sellers, have no malice toward them, want them all to succeed, have their best interests at heart, want to warn them about the pitfalls and avoid the mistakes we made, have compassion for them, etc. etc. This Brat and many others have put in Poppers' heads that we sit up nights with nothing better to do than concoct some well-orchestrated, complicated plot to destroy the sellers on WP for our amusement. -- More of that we/they cult propaganda stuff.

This Brat needs to be set straight.
[/quote]

A wise philosopher once said:

For those who don't believe, no explanation is enough.
For those who do believe, no explanation is necessary.

(This can apply to anything, from Santa Claus and Jesus to eBay's business practices, freedom of speech, or whether or not Wagglepop is a good venue).

There is no way to prove anything to Brat, or any of the other poppers. They must prove things to themselves.

None of us here are against Wagglepop (I can't speak for everyone, of course). What we are against is people getting ripped off, screwed, and otherwise ruined by small time auction sites. We've seen it happen many, many times. Not only at TulipTools, but also at OTWA, FAS, MooTalk, and countless other boards.

We have all said (over and over) on FAS, on OTWA, in the early pages of this very thread, that we WANT an alternative to eBay. We WANT someone to succeed. We WANT small guys to make it. To better the climate for sellers. To make a difference. We really, really do. Of this, I have no doubt.

Unfortunately, many of the small auction venues that pop up now and then are not the best choice, or are more dangerous than eBay itself.

I can't make people "unbelieve." They will make themselves "unbelieve" once they get screwed (the post they really needed answered gets deleted, their personal account balance gets posted in a public forum, Ray goes psycho again and melts down, they need to close their store for medical reasons and their ID & feedback all get canned, when they get billed for the month AFTER they're gone, etc., etc., etc.)

It's not my duty to make anyone unbelieve. If they want to throw money at a cause, so be it.

However, people who do research on places before they do business with them deserve the right to read material from EVERY side--and not just from the Pro side.

If the "believers" think TT is "out to get WP," they may want to read these two threads from OTWA, born long before TT existed:
Wagglepop thread which contains one of Ray's meltdowns and countless personal experiences, facts, and reactions:
http://www.otwa.com/community/showthread.php?t=22635

The Wagglepop 1 Chronology:
http://www.otwa.com/community/showthread.php?t=25225

Was OTWA out to get WP? Heck no. It's not personal. Forums are meant for information sharing, learning, and sharing experiences. That's all that is happening here--and all that happened over there.

Quote:We love you Sweet! I don't think it matters what we do or say, our intentions are going to be 'evil' no matter what.

Exactly. Ray and some of the still-fervent poppers from WP1 blamed the closing on FAS and all of the so-called "naysayers" who questioned some of his business practices (like the full credit card number showing in accounts, etc.).

Remember a few pages back when I likened the devout poppers to jilted ex-eBay lovers who'd found a new boyfriend/girlfriend that can do no wrong? There's nothing you can say to the ex-spouse on a rebound that will make them see their new companion isn't what they think he/she is. Not until after the inevitable breakup.

For those who don't treat their businesses like romantic involvement, I hope this thread and the OTWA threads provide good information for making educated choices.

yep.... its best for all sellers... to get set to shut down all their other non ebay sites and go with the google system for the best competition against ebay....really just maybe have ones own website to get the buyers from ones own marketing and for ones who want to see the items and buy as easy as possible....a website of one sown or maybe blujay which is the next closest thing to ones website that is free and where sellers have control....it looks like ebay is seeing whats coming and trying to make moves to limit the damage... but big damage is on the way.... UNLESS... the USA govt lets these corporations buy each other out and ignore the monopoly laws.... then just throw every single incumbant out of office congress and white house..... so we need to get set to work with google on their efforts at giving ebay competition... put ones items to sell THERE...

Gegy.. was started by a powerseller from ebay... said he had a 7 figure advertsing budget and was finally gonna be an alternative to ebay.. put up a giant green monster to start off with.... before everyone told him to keep that off...... ha ha ha.. he was caught in many lies... but so many people were so excited and sure.. same as with wagglepop and ray a powerseller also...seems like the new wagglepop is wanting upfront money for the stores.... ha ha ha ha.... he must have took a long breath and saw where many people would have paid him some money.. and he seems to have come back with doing it this way.... sounds like grabbing the money and then letting it be nothing....

i'm a POPPER thru and thru til the END!!! ha ha ha

Just a comment on ecrater, because it has a store format, w/ no auctions and a shopping cart, what sells there isn't really an issue. In other words if you have a product consumers want they will find your items through froogle, and other shopping directories you submit the site to. There is a wide variety of items for sale. You could do a search for similar items to what you sell just to see how many are available, but keep in mind most of your buyers won't find your items through the ecrater search. Most I believe come from other referral sources.

I also wanted to post an interesting thread from PSU regarding the new fee hike at Ebay, it has some interesting information.
