Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Hi Everyone,
I have been very busy the past few days and didn't have to much time to do any research but I have noticed a few things about WP. 1) Someone stated on PSU that the sellers shouldn't be concerned about the alexa stats. This is correct as the alexa stats don't reflect the traffic to any one store. The alexa stats reflect a good sampling of traffic on the entire net. The only person who should be concerned with the alexa a stats is Ray. We all know how quick he is to compare when the numbers are good. Until people on TT started reporting the stats the sellers on WP didn't seem to worried about alexa stats. The stats reflect the entire site and not individual sellers however it would be wise for a seller to keep a close eye to the alexa stats. The stats are a direct reflection of how the site is marketed. If people know it is there the numbers will be good & if they don't the numbers will be bad. Alexa stats for 1/7/07 daily rank = 33,766 1 week avg. = 154,345 3 month avg. = 41,312 2) Has everyone been keeping an eye on store #1 ? Based on feedback they had 6 sales the past 30 days and have lost over 1,000 listings. Look as if they found Amazon! Keep a close eye on this store as within 2 weeks at the current trend they will no longer be #1. 3) Stores #2 & #3 have 2 feedback between the both of them. Are these stores still being run by the original owners? No new listings for store #2 in quite some time now and store #3 seems to be they same way as well. I wouldn't say these stores are used actively by there owners these days. They dumped alot of listings into them early on and with the lack of sales and advertising well you know they are forgotten about. Has anyone noticed the imported feedback on the about me page of store #2? Look at the bidville feedback in there. Seems this seller has missed twice off of eBay. The funny thing is wasn't WP compared to bidville recently about alexa stats? The wagglefact of the day will be back in the coming days as time permits me. It's kind of funny I have bumped into many TT members on many different venues of late. Just goes to show what TT is all about, people helping people! You guys are great and I wouldn't trade my time on TT for anything in this world! let the truth be told u1it4less - "it's all in the name.." X-POP NATION, A real seller's network |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:by Truth: My guess is that No. 3 store owner is just using his store as a conduit to his off-line business. Several months ago, he was on PSU asking about alternatives to WP, as he was unhappy with the activity (still only FB score of 2, to same buyer and over 6 months' old). I think there was even some discussion on the board here about his PSU post and it was conjectured that Ray made a deal with him to stick around, as loosing his 3700 listings would put an obvious dent in the tote board. Since No. 3 has his phone number and hours of operation clearly stated in the description, it seems reasonable to assume that allowing No. 3 the privilege of doing so in exchange for keeping his store open could have been the trade-off. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Regarding "express": Quote:thaat your page views per visitor is running at 30 to 50% of the E express site and they are advertising the heck out of that one. Now that does impress me. Chiquita's observations on the "potential seller/lurker" post, is, I believe, dead on. No "lurker" would pop in on a thread and have a discourse of Alexa ratings and "eBay Express" as his/her first post. The obsession KaRay has with eBay Express is evident in more than the so-called "comparison" statistics. From WP's "Philosophy" page: Quote:We certainly will not splinter the site or funnel business to alternative venues, whether "express" or not. We support Wagglepop as a full solution marketplace for buyers and sellers alike, and everything we do is directed squarely at that philosophyBolding mine. Translation: "full solution" = "nobody gets your money but us, and we want all of it." |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:2) Has everyone been keeping an eye on store #1 ? A happy ending  They'll probably have more sales in 1 day at Amazon than they were getting in 1 month at WP. It's too bad they listened to the WP spam hype on the eBay boards last summer and wasted so much time instead of going straight to Amazon but they should make up the lost sales quickly at Amazon. message to book,cd,dvd seller lurkers: You can make more selling media items on Amazon Marketplace than you can on eBay if you're a media seller and the average selling prices are higher. If you're a media seller you can't make more on WP than on eBay... EDIT: media items are one of the few categories where there are venues where you can sell enough to pay all your bills. |

Quote:Founding Member status is reflective of the sellers that have supported the challenge of building an alternative A founding member status icon is completely meaningless unless there are tangible benefits attached to the status. How about showing your appreciation for the work your founding members did by giving them discounted store fees, or FVFs, etc. instead of a stupid icon? |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:Founding Member status is reflective of the sellers that have supported the challenge of building an alternative, have understood and shared the vision of we have of what an online buying and selling community can be, and have exhibited the patience and dedication to be be a part of it. This little idea can also cause division and hurt feelings among the members. Just like when a boss has favorites, you create a clique within a clique. You won't see those hurt feelings expressed on the boards, but it will happen. Look at the animosity on Ebay between PESA members, powersellers, and the rest of the seller body. I agree with Amy an icon and even the so called title of founding member is nothing but lip service. These individuals will have no influence whatsoever over Ray's decisions. He will do what is in his best interest always without exception. |
