To understand Ray, you have to step outside your own high values and ethics and pretend what life would be like if you're a cultist, control freak who only thinks about "what's in it for me." That's something none of us here are used to doing, and why most of us ended up here. There are many reasons Ray would want to institute a policy such as the location/phone verification system, but offering it as something to benefit sellers wouldn't be one of them, even if they ARE paying for it with their monthly fees, which of course, they are.

I was going to create a TT folder but seen that
putting in comming mail into the inbox was an option.

I sure wish I could list alot more also! But, I make most of my items, so it takes a while. Plus, much to my disappointment, I still list on Ebay and have had quite a few sales there. (Had to make 66 blocks, eleven sets of quilt blocks, for one customer alone), waiting for her feedback!!!) One of these days, I hope to close there, but until my sales pick up here, I have to keep on listing at the "E". I have raised my prices to compensate for the higher fees, and I think I will raise them even more!! I raise them, and I still get sales, so go figure! Not that I mind!!

I honestly understand the dilemma of this seller. The process is friendly and easy to learn on WP. The potential to build a showcase store (and I'm not talking about the paid one) is there. I've viewed so many eye-catching stores, custom pages and listings. They are so good you find yourself searching your gray matter for an excuse to buy. The incentive programs for buyers is quite attractive. These pluses are all so enticing and these are features that allow the flexing of one's online selling muscles. They are not readily available as a package on other venues outside of eBay. For this I understand the pride the WP sellers take in their stores and by default, their support of WP. And ultimately, why they are so hesitant to let go of a project that represents so much to them. Starting over is always a daunting choice to make.

This situation really reminds me of my life altering decision to make my ex, well, an ex. We had a good life, mutual friends, respect for each other's goals. I was unsettled for a long time but convinced myself that life was good and I was being unreasonable. He didn't beat on me, didn't stay out half the night with the boys, didn't ever leave me suspicious of another love interest, etc. I knew I could have done a lot worse. He looked after our home, our pets, and our interests with sincere dedication. Things could have been a lot worse and I should be thankful for (or at least content) with what I had going for me.

It was a comfort zone. A very tolerable one. One I made every excuse to myself that it took, to perpetuate it's existence and this attitude sustained me for many years. But one day I took a long hard look at my situation and found myself exploring the polar view within my gray matter. Something just burst in me emotionally. That just maybe I could do a lot better; that maybe I deserved better. But acting on this suspicion scared the hell out of me. The unknown - the world out there faced as a single entity was far from attractive versus the comfy existence I had.

Despite the drawbacks, I walked away from that comfort zone. Faced the potential of a drastically altered life style which represented a step or two back. In a nutshell it was the best move I ever made. Because I've gain substantial steps forward since.

WP is the comfort zone for this seller and many others. WP has a lot of good attributes as a selling venue but do they or will these ultimately satisfy stifling the unsettling ones?  Can these sellers entertain the potential that they can do better with someone else?  It's a tough move to contemplate. But is could end up being very rewarding.

It is so unfortunate that WP has Ray at the helm. If it was someone else, WP as it is structured, might be realizing the growth today that everyone is counting on, hoping and praying for.

While I will agree some of the sellers are very talented, it is apparent, from this seller's post that she is ANYTHING BUT COMFORTABLE with the situation at WP. Alskling I hope I can address your response with more clarity. You are a different breed from many of the sellers currently left on WP. You are not selling online as a hobby, for extra pin money, or as an activity to keep you occupied during your retirement years. You are a dedicated seller driven to succeed and support yourself as just that; an online seller. The greater the motivation the less tolerance given for a comfort level - it boils down to business - clear cut. You, because of your circumstances have no room or time to consider anything else as an acceptable excuse if it isn't putting money in your pocket. Totally understandable because your motive for being online in the first place is a more serious one. You are making a living from it. Those on the most part who are still hanging in on WP are not, and if one of them wish to refute this statement then they will find themselves in a heap of financial trouble for their conviction. Because they will most likely not be able to make a living on WP to support a household.

Lets compare you and I. You sell online for a living - I do it as a pastime. You cannot afford to wait things out, play for the sake of the positive but non-productive attributes of a venue. I can because I'm not making a living. You know I have a full-time job that gives me a steady source of income. Therefore it stands to reason that my tolerance level is higher. I was upset with leaving eBay, then bailing from WP but it didn't represent my lifeblood. I didn't experience an upset to my income as you did. I have the luxury of starting over somewhere else at my leisure. My anger level for the time I wasted did not compare to the degree of yours because I didn't have as much at stake.

Most of the WP sellers currently active fall in my category. The serious "I'm running a business" sellers depending on a source of sole income from WP have flown the coop. The few left are either too new to have seen the light yet or are not being honest and must have an alternate source of income.

You have high standards; admirable standards. But yours don't apply to everyone out there selling their wares. Because the circumstances of why they are selling vary from seller to seller. I'm just trying to point out that distinction. Ambition, self-determination and self-respect cannot be hallmarked by their presence alone - but by their motive for being present.

Bolding mine.  this has been happening to me too.  I changed my mind about leaving eBay and decided to just raise my prices.  So I raised them $2 or more a piece, and things that have sat for like 6 months are now selling.  Go figure.  Toot toot for using eBay as advertising.  And some day I'll get my webstore running.  Still waiting on a couple answers.
