Now if this Wag site was doing FREE listings

Even if WP was free you might not get any SEO benefits for a looooooong time.  WP only has 2 pages indexed by Google (both of which are in the supplemental results not the main search results) and 2 pages indexed in Yahoo (one of which is a bad link).  Google PageRank of 0.

Google PageRank of 0.

Methinks it'll prolly stay there, too.  Not much of a rush to list from anyone....

My guess is he's decided to charge fees to try to keep the folks out with 50,000 items to list with a push of one button.  Obviously, folks do not trust the situation -- or him -- so they're lurking, not listing.

There are now 21 stores as I speak...only 3 more than last night.  I would guess that auctions will not fly.  Those who list will prolly only do 30-day fixed price.

I know Ray was before my time, but why would I PAY to list on a brand spankin' new site . . . that comes complete with baggage?

That's a good way to put it!  Big Grin

I realized the SEO may not be there for some time to come BBH.
I was making the point about FREE SEO from others feeds.

I think I'm sill listed on a dozen or so of all those FREE sites
that popped up after the fee increase.

Once in a while I'll even get a stray sale from some of them.  Laughing7

With WP I was thinking more of the people who will end up
just showing up because of word of
mouth. But the more I think about it.

No need to be a wagglepopper.

Got it going on with out it so far.

Altho it wouldn't surprise me if more stores were opened as a domino effect.  You know...the 'well, since everyone else is doing it...' syndrome.  Might take a while, but it might happen. Sales? Who knows.  Smile

That's 21 stores more than there would be if people would take their heads out of their...... um .  Why spend a minimum of $9.95 monthly to open a store on a site with no traffic when the stores won't even be included in the main site search? Nobody is going to see those stores.  If you want to spend $9.95 open a web site where you'll get more traffic than you will in a WP store.

I can't believe anybody would even consider joining WP again after everything we saw, heard and went through the first time around.  It's mind blowing to say the least  Wink

Oh and lets not forget he lied about destroying all of our info since he still had the email addresses to send out his invites.  Dosen't look good or sit well.

I couldn't resist.  The Kool-Aid was flowing too strongly.  I posted the A. B. part of BBH's post #66 on the WP thread at SRG and added a C. "Ray Lied about deleting everyone'spersonal info last year" and a link to the auctionbytes story.  I'll probably be burned at the stake because earlier in that thread someone called the WP 2 doubters a bunch of 'whiners and complainers who were jealous of anyone who did anything'  //groan//

The reaction everywhere--except the SRG thread-- is apathy.  The loudest Popper cheerleaders from WP 1 seem to be sitting it out.  There are more stores from the SRG members on WP 2 than from the Popper Class of 2005.

Angel Wrote:I can't believe anybody would even consider joining WP again after everything we saw, heard and went through the first time around.

From the SRG thread, I got the feeling that half were unaware of last year (the other half were aware but returning anyways).  I don't think most of those people are aware that there are 100s of similar alternative sites--or even that Amazon offers auctions.  Last year's crop had little knowledge of the world outside eBay before flocking to FAS in January either.

Here's the latest from the Stores thread, with the Whois info following.  Very interesting, unless RR just wanted to protect his privacy... but why pick this group?

For those of you registering for the site.

The old site was registered in New York.

The new site is registered in Washington state.

Plug the phone number from Whois into google, and you will see you may want to wait to register.

So are you thinking that Movieland bought the url and is playing the part of Ray? ?:|

I don't know Vital.

The outfit in Washington has some other sites hosted - some of which are "unsatisfactory" at the BBB.

I looked up the server number and it came back to New York.

It's just all the vague information.

And I really didn't spend too much time digging into it.

I guess I'm concerned that it could be a spoof site that could really harvest a lot of information very quickly.

And as I mentioned it is not a secure (https) server.
