Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Back on topic...
One thing that Ray has working for him is that his general online sellers, his flock, don't have a clue what it actually costs to set up, launch and run an auction site. Comparisons are perpetually made to the present day eBay, so they assume it's an expensive venture. eBay evolved through many years of expansion to create the guzzling giant it is today, with a B&M building, multiple departments and staff occupying them all. This misguided vision, this comparison is what Poppers believe is a reality with WP2. Therefore they honestly believe each tweek to the program involves time, staff and money. But Ray is using Rscript. A packaged product available to anyone who thinks they can run an auction site and can do so solo from their home. From the Rscript website: Quote:Pricing: Pick through the information the Rscript site provides and ask yourself...could I do this from home too?
The one thing you can never afford to lose is your temper.

Quote:H98 The "How To Sell On Wagglepoop" book will be released in the new year. And the response to this post; Quote:H98, Can we please have a smiley for "gag a maggot"? [/quote] Karen gave the same canned sermon (nearly word for word) back in August when I had a store on WP. IT'S ALL BOINKTARD WAGGLE-TALK! -- a Swiss cheese analogy if ever there were one. The same ol' "Rome wasn't built in a day" gobbledegook KaRay has been tossing at the adoring masses since WP2's day one. IT'S GARBAGE! I didn't use that word when I posted my reply on the boards back then, but tried to point out the holes in this stupid argument: When eBay started FEW OF US EVEN OWNED A COMPUTER, let alone a modem, and of those that did, few had any CLUE what e-commerce was about. On-line business of any kind were next to non-existent, and the few businesses that had web sites put them up to support their B&M stores. Add that NO VIABLE ON-LINE AUCTION VENUES EXISTED before eBay, so to encourage bidders to visit the site, eBay encouraged its members to populate news groups, on-line forums (what few there were), etc. to EDUCATE people and introduce them to a medium that was new and untested. The landscape today has completely changed. Even those who've been living under a rock in the deserts of Mongolia since 1997 have some clue what the internet and e-commerce is about. TODAY, E-COMMERCE IS EVERYWHERE. Is there any fool out there with access to the net who hasn't visited an on-line auction venue, or e-commerce site? Many of us use them exclusively for shopping! The challenge for e-commerce today is to offer a UNIQUE shopping experience -- a nitch, something that differentiates one from another and would give customers a reason to pick one as opposed to others. ALL THE WORK EBAY AND ITS ORIGINAL SELLERS DID TO EDUCATE THE PUBLIC HAS BEEN DONE. Karen's stupid sermon is like telling Poppers to reinvent the wheel. What does WP offer that's so unique? NOTHING -- unless you want to call being a member of a cult that charges its faithful converts to get warm fuzzies, cyber breakfasts and a place to talk about their kid's potty training habits a truly meaningful shopping experience. So, go pay KaRay every month for the privilege of SPAMMING the boards in internetland, you fools, and tell everybody all about the wonders of WP. Even those that know about it don't want to go there, BECAUSE BUYERS DON'T WANT TO SEE 160,000 TRADING CARD LISTINGS, idiots, and SERIOUS sellers who want to make a living would never join some dopey, obscure, cultist site and PAY to be part of some boinktard's vision, if they knew that's really what it is. Oi, veh! |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:The comparison to eBay and the methods used for advertising in their "early days" is a valid one. I think sometimes we can forget exactly how the growth of eBay occurred, and tend to picture it only as the huge enterprise it is today. In other words the methods used for advertising WP should continue as planned, spam, spam, and more spam. What newsgroups had a presence in the late 90's? Ray has convinced himself that he is actually a competitor to Ebay. He never compares WP to other sites that are the same size and have the same pathetic results, and there are already tons of them. :blinkie: I think Ray is off his meds again, he is experiencings visions that WP is going to be the next Ebay. Ray please go back on your meds, those voices in your head are yours, and karen isn't a real person. |

No need to apologize Alskling. I am always impressed with your eloquence.
This next is off topic as far as WP is concerned but I firmly believe that it is the secret to any business' success so I wanted to pull it out of your quote so that others wouldn't miss it hidden within all of your other gems of wisdom. "The challenge for e-commerce today is to offer a UNIQUE shopping experience -- a nitch, something that differentiates one from another and would give customers a reason to pick one as opposed to others." |
