Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Here was my PREVIOUS post on the top 10 reasons to join WP (with a couple updating edits):
I think this is a great opportunity for someone to truly post the 10 reasons (I actually came up with more) any seller should go to WP, not only for this potential seller, but for everyone else to see. WHY? Because on WP, the truth over there is REALLY stranger than fiction. WHY SELLERS SHOULD CHOOSE WAG-L-POP 1) Because, as someone here once said, "business is not just about making money." It's about faith and trust. 2) Because I know there will always be someone to pray for me when times are tough, my dog gets sick or I need help sticking to my diet. 3) Because asking about confidential business matters, like marketing strategy, is grounds for terminating an account. It's not constructive or polite and it's non of our business what WP does with our fees or if it even has a marketing strategy. Ray and Karen know what they're doing and we trust them, unlike that othEr site, where people don't always trust that management knows what's best for them. 4) Because it only costs me $49.95 to have a showcase store. It costs the same over thEre, but that's not the point. Here I can list as many items as I want and it doesn't cost me any more. I know thEre gets more traffic, but I'm committed to the long haul, and that's more important than sales or traffic. WP has far exceeded its own expectations and, we have "vision" so I know it will come some day -- in a year, maybe two, three. Well, some day. 5) Because WP is always coming up with great promotions like this new one called AdSmart, where, if I want to advertise to other sellers within the WP site itself, it only costs me $10/mo at 10 cents per click to have a banner ad on my category page. I can get even more clicks if I upgrade to a bonus program for more money. eBay doesn't have that, or maybe they do. I'm not sure. Anyway, I think the program's great because other sellers have short memories and they might forget I'm here if I don't remind them. There's also the WaggleStuff promotion coming up. I can buy mouse pads and coffee mugs with WP on them so my hand can feel all warm and fuzzy when I click (who needs mittens?). I know businesses normally give away stuff like this as advertising, but WP is true to its word about not advertising, and besides, it's for the good of the cause. The mentor program will be great. Remember when you were a kid and the teacher picked YOU to help tutor the dumb kids in class. It'll be just like that! Ooh, so much fun. PLEASE PICK ME, PICK ME, PICK ME! And how about the "guides" program coming up? Sellers can write product guides but they can't promote their store or themselves, unlike over thEre, where sellers are actually ENCOURAGED to write guides to promote themselves and their stores. How greedy and self-centered is that? The guides the sellers take time, energy and money to write will benefit EVERYBODY, and staff will have them available for ever and ever for yet-to-be Poppers. Heck, Ray might even put his name on them, publish them and make some money. How cool is THAT! But, one of the best changes will be the "expansion" program into other areas. Along with it, staff will require more cross-verification measures for registration. I guess it's not enough for staff to have your name, address, telephone, age, sex, birthdate, email and sworn commitment to pay your invoice through PayPal each month in order to simply view topics on the Forums. Poppers haven't been told what else they'll need to provide to register, but it probably will be something simple like a couple credit card numbers, "security" questions, like mother's maiden name, name of your pets, place of birth, last 4 residences, names of past employers, reasons for leaving, social security number, bank statements and/or tax returns, driver's license number -- you know, simple stuff like that. Of course, the site owner's name appears nowhere on WP, so we don't know who he is, but that's not the point. It's about TRUST. 6) Because spamming is not frowned upon here like it is on some of those other auction sites. Here it's even encouraged and I'm given great tips on how to spam sites without getting caught. Folks here are so friendly and helpful in ways like that. And Karen is so supportive. And even though WP states "We don't do listing contests to inflate site statistics. That's meaningless," staff has NEVER interfered with the perpetual listing contests sellers initiate. When sellers do things, they have real meaning. 7) Because just the name Wag-L-pop makes me feel all "warm and fuzzy inside." 8) Because Karen is "da bomb". She's always there to slap someone's hand, delete posts at will, and keep us in line. It's important that we maintain a squeaky image because you never know who might be lurking. 9) The programs here are great. Like Red Carpet. Sellers can offer their repeat buyers special discounts as rewards for their loyalty. Only repeat buyers are eligible. This is just FANTASTIC because it encourages a seller to buy the same item over and over from another seller at a discount -- great for racking up FB points, too. 10) Because here we're treated as individuals. For example, over thEre, when you want to close your store, all you have to do is go to the help section, find "close your store" and click. Over here a seller has to personally email customer care, pay all accounts, have everything all square. This gives the seller time to think about it and maybe change his/her mind. It's the same with credits of Final Value Fees. Over thEre, if a buyer and seller decide to cancel a transaction, they can easily do so and the seller gets the Final Value Fee back right away. Here, the seller has to be "granted" the credit through personal contact with Customer Care, who investigates the transaction and then decides if the credit is warranted. This eliminates a lot of abuse of the system, don't you think? Customer Care can even contact the buyer, without the seller's knowledge or consent, to investigate the transaction. It's all about TRUST. 11) Because it's so much fun to get up in the morning, turn on the computer and share in a virtual breakfast. I would never leave WP for that alone. And pretty soon I'll be able to have my pretend breakfast and drink pretend coffee with my WaggleMug -- that'll just be AWESOME. 12) Because "potential" is really what it's all about. Nobody here cares about experience, track record, or past history. We only care about potential. You won't even see the name, bio, or image of the owner or any of his/her employees on the site. I doubt few of us know in what state the business is located. The owner could have been a convicted child molester, but we wouldn't care. It's not important for the owners to have business experience or for the owner to even communicate with us -- we don't care and why should we? It's all about US, our vision, our future, what we can acheive as a "team". 13) Because the feedback system makes every sale count. If I sell 5 items all at once to the same buyer and bundle the items in one shipment, the buyer can leave me feedback for each item. Over at "E", I would have to sell items to 5 DIFFERENT buyers to get the same feedback score. Just because the seller over thEre has to deal with 5 different buyers with 5 different items and worry about 5 different shipments going to 5 different destinations doesn't make him a better seller. And if I sell even MORE to that same buyer, I can get even MORE feedback. Over thEre, it still only counts as one. That's because we value repeat buyers, and over thEre it's about generating NEW business, and who wants that? 14) Because there are no search feature for completed auctions either sold or unsold here. This is good, because buyers don't care what a similar item might have sold for or even if it sold at all, unless, of course, the buyer wants to send a personal message to the seller of an unsold item and try to buy it from them. That's because we're a TRUST BASED community. Of course, staff can and will "spy" on private messages, just to make sure none of this nonsense is going on. Again, it's all about TRUST. 15) Because ALL, both buyers and sellers, are required to pledge that they will pay their seller fees on time with PayPal, as part of the registration process. This is great, because should a buyer ever want to become a seller, he/she doesn't have to re-register as a seller and we know we can trust him/her. 16) Because we're all happy here. It really doesn't matter if you do or don't make money. It's more important to be happy, have fun and make friends. 17) Because the "Dancing Waggle Bunny" just makes me laugh every time. 18) Because bad language and snide remarks are not tolerated, either on the posts or in listings. One seller's listing for a cook book was pulled because it contained a recipe for beek jerky. That's because the word "jerk" is not allowed on our site, and it doesn't matter in what context it appears. That's part of what makes us so great. 19) Because very little about the buying process is automated. There is a personal touch in everything. 20) Because we love surprises. We are teased by the promise of new features and programs and other stuff we know will be great. The suspense builds because management doesn't divulge any time line or information and we all get so excited. It's like being a kid and counting the days till Christmas, except we don't even know what day Christmas will be, which makes it even more thrilling when we get our treat. It's so refreshing to be part of a business where you never know what to expect. |

Alskling and Platzki, I would highly recommend learning and putting some effort into eCRATER. As said, it is highly optimized for froogle, very very easy to list, plus from what I've seen your title has an unlimited character length. I've already sold two things, been there a week, and I sell the same items you sell (clothing, etc). Plus it's free!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Oh Yuck......gag me.....just saw my old post from Thanksgiving time on the previous page. I was the DITTO DITTO DITTO one! Well, I didn't know back then! Thank goodness, others from here opened my eyes...well they were opened already, I was in the process of bailing out when I was contacted about info and this thread. Thankfully too I might add. This thread has had tons of useful information and anybody who gets steered in this thread's direction and yet stays at WP or goes to WP....well that's their own business, err, I mean funeral. No use in beating a dead horse, I'm gone from there, back at my old ebay and doing very well too. Woke up to a long list of sales today and yesterday. Now have lots of packing and shipping to do today. Thank God!
I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone here a very Happy New Year and thanx for the friendships that have been formed. Even if I don't get to post too often here, I do read and some pages you guys have me laughing with tears rolling and yes....old lady peeing pants laughing so hard at times! LOL Everyone stay safe tonight and here's to 2007! |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
I think we've all gagged once or twice looking back on our riddled replies and support.
I don't think anyone is here to bash anyone else. I know that this was my "therapy" and a great place to learn from my WP mistakes. I am opening a store at ecrater after the first of the year. It is my first REAL step toward opening my own site. (That could take years). The reason I think many of us post here is so that any WP lurkers can see that we were once there and happy. We are business people. Strange things which many who are new to online selling may see as "nice" raised red flags for us. For instance, cleaning up the boards when legitimate business questions are asked had me hauling butt to the door as fast as I could get there. There still are many lurkers here. That's why I keep posting. I'm not out to save the world.....just pass on valuable personal insight into a company that I believe takes advantage of the beginners out there...both sellers and buyers to a new site.
I hate stupid people!

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
You are so right Sandra - there are people that think this thread is only to bash, but we know differently. The information has been very helpful to me. This is considered "therapy" for me too, as my cross stitch has been for years. Have had some crappy times and it all seems to go away momentarily when I pick up my "therapy" stitching. Well we as humans learn by our mistakes, move onward and upward. What I can say about WP is that I have met a friend that has turned out to be one of my best girlfriends on the planet with having so much in common with each other that it feels like we've known each other for years! It's been fun - hugs to you Miss Terry And....again, thanx for the friends I've made here too !
