Great Wagglefacts, Truth. I'm not a member, but I have been following the PSU thread closely. I wonder if they are spamming the Ebay boards, too. It's just a matter of time. mileyyoyo:
One thing that will be different from the last fee hike is that many months have passed and the sellers on the bay have been looking, leaving, and testing other venues for quite awhile. Many tried WP, and have left already. There is also much more information available to sellers now regarding WP than before when the fee hike occured. The TT thread, archived OTWA thread, and various scattered posts of information are available. You can also count on the many who tried it and left to be very vocal on PSU, and the ebay boards as well. There are not anywhere near the number of cheerleaders now that were around in July. Considering the number of stores that have closed, those sellers are also probably watching this whole fiasco and many more people could start posting about their experiences as well. I don't think Romeo will get as much bang for his buck this time around. This thread is now over 400 pages, and that alone speaks volumes.
I think you're right Chiquita. I've been reading the eBay boards but haven't seen any signs of (new) spam there yet, but it's just a matter of time. Ray can't resist.

BBH makes a serious point here that many are forgetting. If you decide you no longer want to sell on WP, you get NARUed--thus you can't even be a buyer anymore. Doesn't anyone else find that defeating and strange???? I've opened and closed eBay stores numerous times since 1997. Imagine if the first time I closed my store--I got completely kicked off. I'd never have continued buying there, and after all these years, I've bought a LOT from there.
And to carry this a bit further. 381 + closed and NARU'd in the past 5 months. I say plus because stores closed were replaced by a few new ones that opened to bring the count back up. Word of mouth advertising is the main staple and is effective to a degree. But that method of communication is now a two-edged sword for WP. Because 381 + stores can and will spread the word of this consequence to leaving which is a negative repercussion that no other auction site I am aware of has, or would ever want to, lay claim to. There are some beautiful stores on WP with attractive stock and decent pricing. In the time since I was ex-communicated I've seen a few listings I'd have bid on under different circumstances. I know I'm not alone as other ex-poppers have expressed the same frustration about their lack of buying power which could have brought sales to the current seller force. But due to being locked out the desire cannot be pursued unless there is direct contact information provided by that seller. Then the sale becomes offline and does nothing to exhibit growth for WP (bad) or put money is Karay's pocket (good).

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Quote:More important than 30 stores closing is that there are 30 people who can no longer buy on the site, 30 people who can no longer run auctions on the site. I think Ray's first attempt with WP1 he probably did believe he could be an alternative to Ebay. Ray hyped the site prior to launch, and failed to test the Rainworx program, so tons of problems happened. He couldn't handle criticism, or really good advice that experienced online sellers tried to give him. In his mind he lost control over the site and the sellers, so he needed an out. His out was a so called Ddos attack, and alleged threats against his family (the poop incident). When he came back with WP2 I believe his motivation no longer had anything to do with being a viable alternative to Ebay. Instead he planned and designed the site to provide a steady monthly income that he could live on. He doesn't care about buyers, his only concern is sustaining a certain number of sellers with stores. He also has to have complete control, this is at the heart of why he NARU's any sellers as a means of "in his mind" keeping out anyone who challenges him. What is intriguing is that the sellers all hooray his censorship and control. This is a guaranteed plan that will backfire. Sellers are buyers remember. The secrecy and paranoia that have been created will turn off most potential buyers and sellers. This behavior will guarantee the eventual demise of the site, and will take the sellers down with it. This is the proof that WP is not run or operated in any way that benefits or supports sellers. The sellers have become employees for Ray. They do all the work for Ray, so why would he "hire" any staff? The majority of stuff that KaRay posts are a means of maintaining control by convincing the poppers that they are special, and that anyone else who leaves are not cut out to sell on WP or online. The followers believe that WP is going to save them and free them from the clutches of Ebay. All Ray wants is their monthly fees. : |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
RE: SPAMMING on the eBay boards.
It's going to be much harder for Poppers to spam on the Bay boards the next time around. 1) The thread that was frequented by spammers has been pulled entirely, so Poppers will either a) have to start a new one, or b) surrepticiously slip the spam in off-topic on an already existing thread. 2) Due to the proliferation of open spamming and the deletion of the previous thead, the Bay has WP spammers on its radar, and will be ready for them when they appear. I doubt spamming will be as well-tolerated the next time as it was with WP1 and the ignition of WP2. |

From PSU:
Quote:My feedback is 45, but as XXXXXXX can probably confirm with me, only about 20% of buyers leave feedback. Interesting. Weren't we told only 5% leave feedback?

Quote:My feedback is 45, but as XXXXXXX can probably confirm with me, only about 20% of buyers leave feedback. I'm impressed--NOT. I just looked at two sellers on eBay: one has 33,000 feedback in the past month and the other has 18,000. There's quite a difference between the sales results of eBay's top sellers and Wagglepop's top sellers isn't there? Note for popper lurkers who are getting ready to scream "eBay cheerleader" ;D : eBay is 0% of my online sales and was under 1% in both 2005 and 2006--so bite me. |

Re: Wagglepop 2: Deja Vu as Auction Site That Left Sellers Stranded Reopens
Been reading through the PSU thread. Some very good, intelligent responses.
I noticed that most of the pro-poppers are recent sign-ups at PSU with few posts. Their responses appear hasty and childish compared to the thoughtful, business-minded posts of the PSU members. As one prefaces her pro-WP sermon: Quote:I am a seller on Wagglepop. Been there since May when I first found out they were reopening. I wasn't part of the first time they launched and it was the time ebay announced they were raising their fees and taking store items out of searches. Enough said.
