US Yahoo Auctions listing count hits 775K, up from 110K in 6/95
This thread was originally about Yahoo's listing count before it was hijacked to a discussion of bunny vibrators  :twistedevil:.

Yahoo Auctions US listing count is at 775,000.  The count was 110,000 when Yahoo dropped all fees last June.

Yahoo Auctions is the number one auction site in Japan. Its sites in Taiwan, Singapore, and Hong Kong are number one in their markets and hold large leads over number two eBay.  Yahoo also owns a 40%  stake in Alibaba which operates China's largest auction site Taobao.

Re: 396942
No wonder they don't try and promote the Yahoo US auctions anymore.

Hell Yahoo was first in everything I ever saw on the net.

So I guess they know their stuff.  Notworthy

But it would be nice it they would throw a few pop ups or ads in for the old time
US sellers on Yahoo.

I still think ebay and Yahoo had a "no compete" deal about that.
I even have an old article that may implicate this to be true.

Re: 396942
They've started promoting them a little (not much) more since they eliminated fees.  They actually advertised a charity auction on the front page of Yahoo. They also added an API for 3rd party auction management services a few months ago. Compared to the total lack of promotion (and lack of "enhancements") from 2001-mid 2005 its an improvement.  They could do a lot more though.

The Canadian auction site is the one they're really neglecting.  On the front page of the site under 'What's new', 'Buy now' is listed.  When you go to the 'Buy now' page the copyright date is 2001  :blinkie: which is when Yahoo abandoned their US and Canada sites...and the copyright date on the auction site home page is 2003.

What's up with yahoo?  The last time I looked it seems like there was actually a link to the yahoo auctions at the top of the main yahoo page.  You know . . . so it would be kinda sorta easy for folks to find.  I had to HUNT for it yesterday and finally found it buried on the bottom.

The link was moved to the bottom of the page a couple of years ago BUT if you're signed up for auctions and log on to the site an auctions button will appear at the top of Yahoo's main page...it would be nice if non-auction users could see that button too.

I must have added the auction button in my yahoo preferences on either yahoo or their toolbar.  It's been awhile, so I don't remember how I added it.  :-[

Toolbar add/edit buttons option.

Smile

edit- or you can click the tiny arrows on the 1st 3 buttons on the yahoo home page to change what is displayed.

Re: 396942
Well, that helps ME find it more quickly . . . but doesn't do much say for a potential buyer looking for the site.  :'(
