eBay Express UK requirements to mimic German Express: new only, businesses only

he online auction site eBay has announced plans to launch an e-commerce site this autumn, which it says will allow small and medium companies to compete with leading UK High Street retailers.

EBay express is essentially "about selling new products at a fixed price", according to eBay UK's managing director, Doug McCallum.

EBay also expects a lot of companies that have not used eBay before because they have been loath to advertise alongside amateurs peddling collectables and unwanted gear.

The new site, eBay Express, will only list new items for sale by businesses rather than private individuals. Sellers will have to sign up to a code of practice committing them to dispatch goods within three days of receiving payment and to accept goods returned within seven days.

Sellers using eBay Express will have to register as businesses, but will pay the same fees that are charged by the existing site. The commission varies according to the value of goods sold.
