Antique dealers and collectibles buyers steer clear of eBay

Nearly everyone agrees, though, that in spite of its popularity, eBay offers no bargains when it comes to antiques and collectibles.

Bradfield says he "got burnt really bad" on some eBay purchases.

"It’s not policed," he says. "It’s the biggest scam in the world today. It’s so big it’s almost out of control."

Bradfield’s business partner, Ellen Grove, bought three vases for $1,400, supposed to be in mint condition, but they arrived broken and dirty. She returned them but did not receive a refund.

"The guy left eBay, then came back on with a different identity," says Grove.

Bradfield and Grove won’t even sell on eBay...
