The Truth - A MUST READ for Every User

On the afternoon of August 23, 2006, I received a malicious attack on my modem and computer in my home. The information I passed on the the FBI is this:

My system recorded thirteen(13) separate and distinct events, all of which were identified as unauthorized attempts to connect, and eight(8) of them were identified as originating at hostname ebay.com at or near Sunnyvale, California.

Now you know what you are dealing with here.

I think I comprehend what this could mean, but I would really like to hear opinions from some of the techies here.

Who is that person? And why would he/she think ebay is out for blood?  MY system records unauthorized entry attempts all the time -- from ebay, MSN, etc.  I don't think anything of it.

If she has the eBay toolbar installed, a sniping program, or some other auction management software--that could explain the attempts made by ebay.com to contact her home computer.

A lot of time antivirus and antispyware programs make normal access connections seem like criminal intent.

Another possibility is that a compromised desktop PC at eBay is attacking that person's computer.  All it takes to turn a corporate desktop into a zombie bot is a worker who likes to surf porn sites or download graphics/shareware etc. on company time.

I was thinking along those lines -----my x is an info sec. consultant and I know the porn site surfing is a big problem at many companies.

Anyone think it might be a lieworld type of deal?
