2CO/2Checkout Rules and Regulations
Interesting post for anyone using 2Checkout on their web sites.  A letter of non-compliance a 2CO user received:

http://www.zen-cart.com/modules/ipb/inde...opic=27916

some highlights:

Quote:ACCEPTABLE terminology for normal text and/or buttons and/or links to
2CO:
"Add to Cart"
"Buy Now"
"Buy from 2CO"
"Continue ->"
"Purchase from 2Checkout"

UNACCEPTABLE terminology for normal text and/or buttons and/or links to
2CO:
(these must be immediately removed)

"Credit Card Processor"
"A Third Party Processor"
"A Payment Processor"
"A Payment Gateway"
"Process Payment Now"
"Pay Using 2Checkout"
"Secure Payment Processor"
"Click for payment"
"Pay via..."
**As long as your website does not contain any of the UNACCEPTABLE
terminology, and also contains buttons or links with ACCEPTABLE
terminology, you are not required to display a disclaimer**

"Incorrect Disclaimer", or "Disclaimer Not Present"

A disclaimer is required to clearly define to the customer, that they
will be making a purchase of your goods/ services, from 2CO. This
disclaimer must be present at the point where the customer is choosing
products/ services, prior to any "order page".

"2Checkout.com , Inc. is an authorized retailer of "
"2Checkout.com, Inc. is the exclusive authorized retailer of goods and
services provided by "
"2Checkout.com, Inc. is an authorized retailer of goods and services
provided by "

and:

Quote:"Site displays Credit Card Logos"

Credit card association rules state that only a merchant account holder
may display credit card logos on their websites. 2Co does not provide
you with a merchant account. You can continue to display these logos,
as long as immediately above, beside, or below the logos, there is a
clear statement that 2CO is your authorized retailer.
You can display any of the logos on the following link, or a logo
similar to any of the following:
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"

"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site.

When I used them I got a letter like that . . . .for a store that I no longer was using them for  Icon_scratch

Makes me wonder what their audit process is like?

If that is true, why doesn't that rule apply to PayPal?

It does, but since the credit card logos are displayed with the actual merchant account holder's (PayPal) logo they can be used

MasterCard has an entire web site on how to display their logo.  You have to sign your life away just to download their graphics to use on your web site.

Re: 2CO/2Checkout Rules and Regulations
Well I guess that does make a cerain amount of sense, considering that when you sign up for 2CO there is a big long thing on how you're becoming a distributer to them and they're the actual "seller" of the goods. It's kinda like ebay wants to be, your customers aren't really "yours" after all.

Why can't somebody JUST be a freakin payment processor? BangHead
