RSS Feed
Truthfully I don't really get what this is, but I'm thinking I might need it for my site so I should figure it out. The tutorial I found on this site besides overwhelming me made it sound like it might be like a site map. I need to have access to the server which I don't with Shoppal. I do have web space that I can upload things to. Does it have to be on the same one as your site? I think maybe I could do it with my blog instead??
Would anyone like to push me along before I put this back at the bottom of my to-do list. TIA Kim |

Re: RSS Feed
Quote:made it sound like it might be like a site map. On a shopping cart or store it's more like a listing of your latest products with a brief summary and a link to the product. Here's one example: http://auctions.allmusicsearch.com/auctions/auction.xml On a blog or forum it's a listing of the latest posts with a brief summary. When you add a new post a brief summary of it will appear: (maryrussel's blog RSS feed): http://blogs.allmusicsearch.com/allmusic...eeds/rss20 Here's the raw RSS feed for the TulipTools Hosted Shopping Carts forum. You can see the structure of an RSS feed by looking at this one: http://community.tuliptools.com/index.php?action=.xml&board=84 Quote:Does it have to be on the same one as your site? I think maybe I could do it with my blog instead?? If you don't have access to the Shoppal server, you could manually create an RSS file using the TulipTools example above as a guide for structure and place it on a different server and put a link to it on your store. Your blog has a built-in RSS feed (this is your blog's RSS feed http://decorativedishes.blogspot.com/atom.xml ) |

Re: RSS Feed
Quote: put a link to it on your store THANKS! Would this be some special kind of link (as opposed to the regular link that people can click on) that gets picked up by feeders or something (sorry if this is really elementary). Kim |

Re: RSS Feed
Quote:you could manually create an RSS file using the TulipTools example above as a guide for structure and place it on a different server and put a link to it on your store. You could, but it would be a PITA to manually create a new RSS .xml file every time you added new products. Writing a short blog entry when you have new products would probably be easier. Quote:Would this be some special kind of link (as opposed to the regular link that people can click on) It would just be a normal clickable text or image link that linked to your RSS feed. The small orange buttons on the front page of TulipTools are examples of RSS image links.

Someone on the stores board recommended feedburner.com (for eBay store feeds--no way ) in such a way that I actually understood it after you guys got me started. Thanks tons as usual! Now I need to update the blog. Kim |
