Re: Payment Module and Paypal
You aren't kidding those osc docs are a mess! I think that's what keeps screwing me up the most. I am looking for things that don't exist or have been moved.

Well, I'll get there eventually. Thanks for your help, XPP!  Notworthy

Paypal Fatal Error GRRRRRRR
I Know. I know. Paypal sux but I'm stuck with it for the time being.  >Sad

I had a friend buy a test product from me and pay thru Paypal. No problem in paying but I can't get her returned to my site. When she clicks on "Confirm order details" (something like that), which I assume is when she should be returned to my site,  she gets this message:

Quote:Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in site name/
includes/modules/payment/paypal_ipn.php on line 521

Now I had already done what the oscmax forum had as a fix which was to switch // in includes/checkout_process.php. That didn't fix it obviously (so much crap there is outdated!).

So it looks like I need to change something in the paypal_ipn.php but I have no clue what. Deciphering code is not my forte.  :o

As an aside, but part of my problem here, how the heck are these people counting lines. In the oscmax so-called fix it said "line 53" and "line 69" but what constitutes a line? I mean if a line has nothing more than { on it, is that a whole line or part of another line?

So, once again, I am begging my friends and comrades for assistance.  Notworthy  Wave

Re: Payment Module and Paypal
Can't help you on that one cranky I've by passed the whole cart myself.
I know.... kind of defeats the whole purpose of having
a shopping cart program
but I don't have an ssl and once I got a merchant account
hardly anyone wanted to use PP anyway.  :Smile

I do have a fix for you.
It's a simple code you can use for PP Shopping cart buttons.
It has to be inserted in the products pages but it will work.

Let's see if one of the oscmax gods comes along and knows the answer.
Hey maybe that Regic chick (who said I'm the 15 second guy in another thread)  :blinkie:
can come up with something in 15 seconds.

Anyway as a fall back... e me and I give you a simple cart code to use if need be.

Re: Payment Module and Paypal
PayPal must have changed something on their site.  A bug was reported on the oscMax site 2 days ago with the same error message:
http://bugtrack.oscmax.com/view.php?id=200

A thread on the error
http://www.oscdox.com/PNphpBB2-viewtopic-t-7025.html

Look for the post in that thread that mentions "osCommerce PayPal IPN Module v1.3 For 2.2MS2" for the fix

Re: Payment Module and Paypal
PayPal has so many problems it's almost not worth is anymore.
that's another reason I didn't bother to try and configure thier mod.

Waste of my time for what?
So a criminal organization can make more money?

I don't think so.

I know, XPP.  >Sad

But I've got a boatload of unexpected medical bills sitting here telling me that I just can't do a merchant account right now for a site that won't be paying off right away.  BangHead

Re: Payment Module and Paypal
Oh I understand that's way if you want I'll give you this simple code
(form).
It works. All you do is change a few things and it's yours.
(Should be able to work I sould say)  :Smile

May have to disable the WYSIWYG editor in oscmax.
It's two places to do that so is accepts your code.

Alternatly you can go to your PP account and make buttons from there.

PayPal's IPN works as well as the rest of the PayPal site.  Angryfire  There was a 4-day period 2 weeks ago when their IPN wasn't returning orders to any of our sites (which meant we were receiving payments and had no idea what they were for  Angryfire ).  On day 5 it started working again...  Angryfire  There have been many other times when their IPN went down for a few hours or days too.  Angryfire

EDIT: my merchant account doesn't have the same problems Smile
