Quote:Did you know it is also said that urine will cure an ear infection?  If you were a high profile person, would you say that on national TV?

I'd say it.

Okay, to further muddy the waters here:

http://www.gi.alaska.edu/ScienceForum/ASF12/1234.html - article about a science experience using dog saliva

http://abcnews.go.com/2020/Health/story?id=1213870 - ABC news article

http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mmouth.html -

http://www.heathermillsmccartney.com/for...t2069.html - strange post about "purr therapy" - thought it was interesting

http://www.godsdirectcontact.org/eng/news/162/an3.htm - yet more stuff about dogs licking wounds

So, this "theory" is part of folk lore, old wive's tales, or whatever, and who's to say that some of it isn't true?  I agree that to recommend it on network television, whether she purposely exaggerated it for comedic effect, is NOT a good move.  But to have the police arrest her - nah.

Modified to add:  AND I'm not usually a big Rosie O'Donnell fan - I watched her talk show for about 15 minutes total, but I actually caught her the other day on The View, and I thought (1) she was a conversation hog) and (2) she added some much needed LIFE to that show.

Undoubtedly what they hired her for.

The original title would have generated more traffic.  ;D

EDIT- how about SPANKED instead of reprimanded? Happy001

Anita - I agree with you that it was a gross/stupid/strange thing to say, but the part that sort of threw me was your comment about prison (revised to reprimanded - IMHO, a much better idea all around!)

Urine in the ear - ah, c'mon, doesn't gross me out at all (I should say, the THOUGHT doesn't gross me out, but I wouldn't want to be the ..... umm... pee-EE).

I used to work in a health food store, so I've heard a whole bunch of strange cures for things.  Once an older lady told me that when she was young, her schoolteacher had the most beautiful skin.  The teacher claimed that her secret was ........ wait for it ....... urine.  This was in the time of chamberpots, and every nite before she went to bed, she'd drab a bit of urine from the chamberpot on her face, with the result being a glowing gorgeous complexion!

Former Indian Prime Minister Morarji Desai was a staunch believer in urine drinking. Smile

Yuk    Yuk    Yuk    Yuk

Quote:In a 1978 interview with American broadcaster Dan Rather, Desai stated that as part of a traditional health practice, he drank a small amount of his own urine each day. This interview resulted in a brief flurry of publicity about the Indian prime minister.

A few years ago one of the programs I watch (I think it was a Law and Order) was about a murder that involved someone who was drinking their own urine, supposedly for health reasons. I don't remember the details anymore. I just remember being grossed out by it.

Two things:

1)  Y'all are taking what Anita said WAYYYYYYY to literally and seriously.  However, I vote she changes the title again to SPANKED.

2)  What say let's NOT get a new pee-in-your-ear smiley.... :o
