Google Base Product Search to be added to Main Google.com Search by Holidays

According to a Bear Stearns research note, Google told a group of eBay PowerSellers it would roll out product search on Google.com during the holiday shopping season. The search will bring back results exclusively from Google Base listings.

"When users conduct a product search on Google.com, they will be represented with an additional search box where they can refine their search. When the user refines the search, Google takes the user to a second page, which will be filled with product results only from Google Base." Results will be ranked in order of product attributes and by relevancy. Because Google found most product searches were being conducted on Google.com, Google will de-emphasize Froogle.com as a destination...

I think Amy predicted during the June launch of Checkout that search would become Google's "venue" 

I understand now why they took away the search box on the Base home page this week and added the tagline "Post it on Base. Find it on Google."

Marketwatch calling this news a potential "ebay killer"

Google Inc. plans to introduce a new shopping feature in time for the holiday season, an analyst noted Friday, which sets the stage for an even bigger clash with eBay Inc. and other online-commerce companies.

In a report for Bear Stearns clients, analyst Robert Peck described a new feature that's based on Google Base...

Simultaneously, Google intends to "de-emphasize" its own Froogle shopping search engine,...Google intends for Froogle to no longer be a standalone Web site; instead its listings would be absorbed by other search features...

The new shopping feature is likely to rattle electronic merchants, especially eBay...

Me too. And I think Google Base is in bed with Ebay.

I told you all that Google already had a map it thing going on when feebay announced their new map thing... what was it last week. 
GB has had one for months.

Cranky, I agree about the "in bed" thing.
Why else has the big G not come out with a full assult of an acution venue or mall type, when they launched Gpay?

When Google Base first came out, it looked fair as far as search results went. Right after Ebay and Google made their deal to show Google ads in search results on Ebay's international sites, a Google Base search suddenly brought up one Ebay listing after another.    It certainly looked like preferential treatment.

When I go to Google, I don't find a link to GB.  :
