3 pink slaps in one day....how many before you're out???

Hello Everyone,

It looks like a timely reminder might be needed. Please remember to follow the Board Usage Policy while participating on the discussion boards. This helps allow a pleasant experience for all participants. A link to the Board Usage Policy and the Policy Explanation Board is located the top of this Board.

I want to also point out a few specific policies as well as clarify a few recent concerns that I've read:

- Discussing or reposting deleted posts or warning letters, or discussion of sanctioned or no longer registered members.

- Advertising merchandise, auctions, services or commercial Web sites, including offers to trade, "wanted" posts, or charitable solicitations.

- Posting material that in any way violates the eBay User Agreement or Community Values.


Sometimes members will unintentionally violate policies because they've joined a discussion that violates the policies. Please support your fellow members by reporting posts in violation.

Also, please be advised that we reserve the write to remove entire threads if it becomes necessary. An example of a situation where this might be deemed necessary is when the topic of a thread or the direction that a thread takes is causing the unintentional violations that I described. Also, threads that become disruptive for the Board in general might be removed.

Please remember to treat other Community members as you would have them treat you. We want you to be able to freely discuss issues of concern, whether positive or negative. But there is a difference between discussing dissatisfaction, and hijacking threads with negative comments when other members are trying to ask questions, seek help, etc. It is important to remember that a Board needs to be inclusive of everyone who wants to have a voice.

And since I am posting this reminder, I also have been wanting to clarify a couple of points relating the policy against advertising:

- If you are mentioning other websites within policy (not advertising), then please just mention it. When a member tries to disguise it, he/she gives the impression that he/she is hiding something and engaging in behavior he/she believes violates policy.

- Only one link to an eBay-owned page is permitted in a signature. Multiple and/or off-site links in signatures violate policy.

I was disappointed Tim didn't follow through with his media blitz.

Tim/Beavis does not have anywhere close to the influence that Randy will have. He is what we need.

I love their reasons for giving pink slaps.  We once received a pink slap for posting the letter "O".  eBay labeled it hate speech.  ;D

Maybe it's just me, but I really don't think that was any ordinary pink....They seemed to know the technical means available to stop the thread, but you have to admit that it wasn't handled in a normal fashion.  Most pinks don't fool around locking a thread, deleting certain posts, etc.  I think it was someone a little higher up - just my opinion from having worked around upper muckety mucks (not at ebay but elsewhere) - they often know "how" to do stuff technically, but often don't know normal procedure, like just deleting the whole thread instead of playing around with it.

The Pinks do have some control as well, though. Even Darlene, the C & P queen, admitted that. And I know of one Pink who, under certain very rare circumstances, will remove a thread.

I think they locked it long enough to dish out all the pink slaps and see who they could manage to suspend over it.  So far, I'm still there.  I didn't dare post on the follow up thread.

I'm not ready to burn my Ebay bridges yet so I have to semi walk the line.

I haven't gotten a pink slap for anything I've posted in the last two months.  Then, three today.

Do you think someone is watching to see who is posting overhere (and targeting them)? Or am I just being paranoid.

Hard to say, but possible. Both Brainchemicals/Liveworld read here avidly. As do Ebay employees.
