Re: ARRRGHHHH!!!! Spam, how to get rid of it?
If it's the new image based spam (that I'm getting several hundred of each day) there's not a lot you can do until someone comes up with a better filter to recognize and block it.Â
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"
"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site. best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011 |

Re: ARRRGHHHH!!!! Spam, how to get rid of it?
Only permanent solution I've found is to hunt the slime down and put two rounds into their numbskulls. Other than that, with the image based spam, haven't found anything that works. Pain in the rear, and eats up resources (server, my time, my patience, ammunition)

Re: ARRRGHHHH!!!! Spam, how to get rid of it?
Adding them to your blacklist is pointless because 80% of image based spam is sent by botnets and the average lifecycle of an URL used to send spams is 4 hours.
Quote:The average lifecycle of a domain used in a spam message was 48 hours in June of 2005. In that time the domain would be detected and added to blacklists. The average duration of a URL is now four hours or less. The quick changeover of Web addresses evades blacklists and also exploits domain registration.http://www.clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3616946 |
