Heads are Rolling at Skype

Skype, a leading VoIP services provider and a division of eBay, went through a major reorganization this morning, which included axing of the entire business development part of the company, barring a handful of country heads.

Our sources say the a meeting was organized earlier today and most country division heads were invited to the London offices, where they were told of their pending dismissals. We have called eBay/Skype for a comment on the recent reorganization, and will update the post accordingly, once we have had a chance to converse with them.

Senior executives in Poland, France (Jerome Archambeaud, French Market Development Manager), UK (Alistair Shrimpton) and Italy have been let go...

Skype Journal reported on Tuesday that Skype underwent a reorganization in which all marketing functions will be moved to London, and 14 staff have yet to find another job at Skype or another eBay company...

Malik reported that there has been a steady exodus of senior executives "in what has been described as the ebay-i-zation of the company" and that he has heard some "sparse rumors of discord between the old timers and the eBay crowd."...

more changes at Skype:

Henry Gomez, a former eBay executive and a veteran marketing professional is the new chief at Skype. He is CMO & Director of Operations for Skype but will be moving into the President’s office. Gomez takes over from Alex Kazim1, till recently the president of Skype.

Kazim has been with eBay for around seven years, and was named the president in July 2006...

IMO, Alex is on the same level of Jordan. He is a senior, longtime exec. His loss would be significant to eBay.

Update on Kazim:

Skype President Alex Kazim will leave the company in January and return to eBay. He had replaced Rajiv Dutta, now head of PayPal, who had been eBay's Chief Financial Officer before briefly heading Skype.

Kazim will report directly to eBay CEO Meg Whitman to work on major strategic projects for the company. An 8-year eBay veteran, he was formerly Senior Vice President of new ventures at eBay, has held leadership positions in all of eBay's businesses and was responsible for launching eBay's international classifieds sites, Kijiji...
