27,263 edit-last month Patrick said 95% of the listings were subscription plan: my prediction: listings will fall to 17,000 (340,000 -95%= 17,000 listings)
I don't think Overstock thought subscribers would pull all of their listings. They thought wrong.
Do you (Sneaky and or Amy) think they will be able to save it? Unbelievable how quickly they killed their business. All because they refused to listen to their users. :blinkie: A lesson for other venues: 1. Know who your 'customers' really are 2. Listen to them( you exist because they do---DUH) |

Quote: think they will be able to save it? If the listings stay at current levels there are going to be a few job cuts in their auction department. I think auctions will stay but eventually Overstock will limit selling on them to Enterprise Merchants and itself. Quote:A lesson for other venues: The bad thing is Overstock doesn't exist because sellers exist (and either does Amazon)...it exists because of the buyers (who sellers must compete directly with O for). One of the reasons they made the changes last month is because Auctions (i.e. sellers) were taking business away from their main business (i.e. selling directly to buyers)
"Well, Jay was so giddy that someone named Jay was involved with this site we posted our first non-eBay listing in 3 years here at Lunarbid (we tried two items at Yahoo once upon a time, they bombed)" -Marie posting in a LunarBid thread at OTWA in 2005 wins the award for 'most moronic reason ever given for choosing a venue"
"thanks twat u must have nothing better 2 do. do u talk to all your members like that. will not be recomending your site. best way to put it is TULIPTOOLS.COM IS REALLY SHIT. DONT JOIN." -pubescent owner of rinky dink off2auction.com in 2011 |

You know, I almost prefaced my previous remarks with a dsclaimer along the lines of "I know virtually noting about Overstock", but now I'm glad I didn't because it would have been redundant. |
