Online payment services that may rob you of a refund...
PayPal UK:
Quote:Shoppers who use PayPal and other payment schemes to make purchases on the internet may invalidate any refund protection that is normally provided by their credit card. full article: http://observer.guardian.co.uk/cash/stor...34,00.html |

Quote:Fortunately PayPal deals sympathetically with requests for refunds from customer's banks, enabling chargebacks to occur. Notice the phrase "requests for refunds from customer's banks" They only deal "sympathetically" if THEY can get their money from the seller! |

Re: Online payment services that may rob you of a refund...
Speaking of which... The following image is what is shown when attempting to change your payment type from CC to instant transfer (bank withdrawal) when paying with PayPal. The statement "You are 100% protected against unauthorized payments sent through your PayPal account" is MOOT, relative to sending money and is solely inserted onto this page to give the user the incorrect assumption that they are 100% protected with this purchase. No, the statement is not a lie, but at the very least it's deceptive and has no place on this confirmation page... other than to save PP some bucks from having to bill your credit card... not to mention the chance that if your transaction goes south and need to file a charge back, PAYPAL is protected... not necessarily you. Cheers |

Quote:They only deal "sympathetically" if THEY can get their money from the seller! Exactly. If it's an honest seller and you're a dishonest buyer who filed a false claim you'll get your money back. If you're an honest buyer and the seller is a scammer who cleaned his PayPal and bank accounts out after ripping you off you'll get $0. |
