SpareDollar hikes rates 80%
Quote: Dear SpareDollar Member,

We are writing to inform you that on 11/01/2005, we will be implementing a membership rate increase. As you are aware, SpareDollar is one of the lowest priced services in the industry. Although these low rates are a great benefit to our members, it hinders our abilities to provide reliable and updated services. For over 2 years, we have maintained the same monthly rate and provided an increasing quality of service. In order to maintain and continue raising our quality of service, this action is required.

We are committed to our users receiving prompt and valuable customer service. This rate increase will ensure we can provide adequate support personnel to answer all of your questions. We have been developing a new version of SpareDollar which is nearly completed but requires additional resources to be fully released. This new version includes many updates to eBay functionality and navigation enhancements and will be released shortly after the billing increase.

The base membership rate will increase an additional $4.00 from our current rate of $4.95 ($8.95). We feel this rate is still competitively priced below the average industry pricing. All additional image hosting rates will remain the same.

Thank you for your continued support,

Tomas Salas
President and Founder
SpareDollar, Inc.

AuctionBytes did a story on this today:

Quote:One user complained to AuctionBytes that users are disappointed; "It's not that the price is so expensive, it's that the site does not work properly and has not delivered updates that have been promised for more than two years."

Salas said the biggest customer complaint the company receives stem from the challenge of keeping up with the rapid changes eBay makes to its site and API.

And the site was down for about 5 hours this morning.
According to Tomas, the credit card on file with his domain registrar had been cancelled because it was lost and he forgot to update the registrar account with a new, valid credit card.

Auction industry business owners who forget to renew their domain names seems to be a new trend:  FAS, Auction Ethics, SpareDollar...  :Smile
