Western Union joins with UK police in fight against fraud

Money transfer operator Western Union is teaming with London's Metropolitan Police Service to crack down on criminals that use its networks to transfer fraudulent funds.

Under the new programme, Western Union says customers who appear to be sending money for 'business purposes' or are in anyway unsure of the intended recipient will be given a 'fraud warning' form containing details of common frauds, simple prevention advice and support contacts.

I liked my article better...and besides, until eBay puts tougher verification requirements in place for new registrants, any public statement it makes on fighting fraud will be just a bunch of public relations BS.  QXL requires snail mail address verification before new users can sell on their site--maybe its about time eBay did the same  :twistedevil:
