Gmail users currently get about 2.8 GB of free storage space and Picasa users get 1 GB for free. Starting Friday, users could sign up through their Google accounts to buy as little as 6 gigabytes of additional storage for $20 per year, or up to 250 gigabytes for $500 annually...

For many users, a removable hard drive or other storage device may also be a less expensive option than Google's storage fees...
