In the past the Listing ID has been the primary identifier for each item available for sale on the Amazon Marketplace. However, many new features and services now use SKUs to identify listings. In the near future we will begin to use SKUs as the primary identifier throughout Marketplace and require that all listings have a SKU. Listing tools such as Sell Yours Here and Sell An Item will require a SKU. If you do not provide a SKU (or are not asked to provide one), we will simply supply one. Pro-Merchants already must have a SKU to upload files.

Once all listings have a SKU, we may retire Listing ID as a public identifier, and we are interested in understanding any issues that may result.
